Is it fun to introduce Mianhu Ancient Town?

Miangu Town, located in Guangdong Province, is a characteristic town full of Lingnan culture and customs. Its customs are amazing. Everyone hopes to roam freely in the ancient town and experience the most exciting scenes. This is your specific guide.

Mianhu Town is a town under the jurisdiction of Jiexi County, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. It is also one of the few thousand-year-old ancient towns in Chaoshan area. It was built as early as 977 AD during the Northern Song Dynasty. However, apart from being well-known in Chaoshan area, foreign tourists know very little about it. Even the people from Meizhou next door said they had never heard of it. Taken together, Mianhu can be regarded as the "most primitive" and "least known" ancient town in Guangdong.

In Guangdong, Hakka people usually live in mountainous areas. The area on the river slopes of Jiexi County near the county seat is their main residential area, while Chaoshan people live in plains and hilly areas. Mianhu Town is the central town in this area, with relatively good basic industry and trade. Many people from nearby towns want to work here to make a living.

Miangu Town used to be called Daojiang Town, with a cloud lake in the center. In the past, kapok trees formed along the shore. In late spring, the flowers are blooming and the scenery is so beautiful that Daojiang Town was renamed "Mianhu Town".

The past Yunhu Lake was turned into a park many years ago. Today, it remains a landmark in the town of Cotton Lake. It is a place for locals to take a walk and have fun. Unless there are special circumstances, people play chess, play sports or sing in the park every day.

Huyun Park is a typical tidal classical garden. There is a tourist plank road in the park, with classical guardrails built on both sides of the plank road. This plank road is a bit like a nine-curved bridge, winding to the center of the lake and connected to a pavilion at the end. This pavilion is the viewing pavilion of Huyun Park and is also part of the landscape itself. In summer evenings, there are always local tourists walking to the pavilion to enjoy the scenery.

Huyun Park has a strong subtropical style, but the palm trees planted on the islands near the lake are like tropical oil paintings.

In the eyes of local people, Huyun Park is a regional mark and the place with the most hometown feeling, but they have no special feeling for the scenery. If you come to play on a sunny day, the harvest will be relatively large.

The lake covers an area of ??80 acres. The sky and clouds are reflected on the lake, which looks very atmospheric. If you take photos at dusk when the light is soft, it is easy to get a dreamy feeling.

When it comes to Mianhu, we have to talk about Kuok's Building. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Mianhu became a prosperous commercial port, and its commercial status was as good as that of Hongyang, the old county town of Puning next door.

In the mid-Qing Dynasty, Guo Lai was a leader in the business field of Mianhu Town. He made his fortune in the sugar industry and was known as the "Sugar King." Guo Lai built a big house by Huyun Lake for more than two hundred years. Outsiders think it is a miracle, but in fact there are many articles about it.

When the building was first built, the construction workers deliberately mixed brown sugar into the concrete. The advantage was to enhance the adhesion of the wall material and make the wall stronger over time.

This trick sounds simple, but is actually full of wisdom. This may be the experience accumulated by Guo, who has been engaged in the sugar trade for many years.

Guo’s buildings are not maintained as accurately and comprehensively as famous monuments, and then circled to sell tickets. Instead, it retains its original historical appearance and is open to all tourists free of charge.

The biggest feature of this building is the exquisite craftsmanship of painting, wood carving, and porcelain inlay. The unique courtyard layout is also known as the "Chaoshan Folk Little Forbidden City".

How long does it take to visit Mianhu Ancient Town? Basically half a day is enough. First, visit the park, then Kuok Building, and then the nearby Sing Tao Academy. If you still have time, you can visit the old local church. Mianhu's food is very unique, and the rice wine and stir-fried tiao are both worth trying.
