City Introduction

Budapest is a city with a long history and beautiful scenery, with a strong ancient atmosphere. The city of Budapest was founded in the 9th century AD and is located at the crossroads of the Eurasian continental transportation lines, between the Hungarian plains and the intersection of the Carpathian Mountains. Budapest is a famous medieval city in Europe, located on both sides of the picturesque Danube River.

Here the Danube River leaves the mountains of central Hungary and enters the Great Hungarian Plain. The highest point in Budapest is 527 meters high. Geologically, Budapest is located on a fault, so Buda has many hot springs. The right bank of the river is mountainous and is called Buda, while the left bank is flat and is called Pest. Buda and Pest are connected by 8 bridges across the river and a modern underground railway that crosses the bottom of the Danube.
