Basic introduction to Shuanglong Bridge

Shuanglong Bridge is a famous tourist attraction in the cultural landscape of Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture.

Long Bridge is located three kilometers west of Jianshui City. It is a large stone arch bridge with three pavilions and seventeen holes. It spans the Hujiang River and Taochong River, a tributary of Nanpanjiang River, at the intersection of the two rivers. Because the two rivers are like two dragons It is named after its twists and turns.

This bridge was first built during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. At that time, only three holes were built. In the early years of Daoguang, fourteen more holes were built to continue with the original three holes, so it is also called the Seventeen-hole Bridge. The entire bridge is made of tens of thousands of huge bluestones, with a total length of 148 meters, a bridge deck width of 3-5 meters, and is spacious and flat. There are three pavilions built on the bridge, with unique shapes, exquisite craftsmanship and decent layout. The middle pavilion is divided into three levels, rising high into the sky, and the front and rear pavilions reflect each other. In the sixth year of Chengfeng (1856), the three pavilions were destroyed by war. Reconstruction started in the 22nd year of Guangxu (1896) and was completed in the 24th year. It is wider than the old picture. The middle pavilion is a square main pavilion with triple eaves, nearly 20 meters high, 16 meters long on each side, and the eaves are overlapping. , the eaves and corners are intertwined, majestic and magnificent. The bottom floor is the bridge passage. If you climb up the stairs, you can overlook thousands of fields, thousands of fireworks, undulating mountains, sparkling scales and other charms of mountains and green water. The bridge pavilion at the south end has double eaves and a pointed roof, with upturned eaves and corners, which is exquisite and beautiful. But Duanqiao Pavilion in Yijing has been destroyed.

Jianshui Shuanglong Bridge is the largest bridge with the highest artistic value among the ancient bridges in Yunnan. It inherits the traditional style of my country's continuous arch bridges, integrates the science of bridge architecture and plastic arts, and embodies the people of southern Yunnan. With superb technology and wisdom, it is a masterpiece among my country's ancient bridges and occupies an important position in the history of my country's bridges. In 1965, after an inspection, Mao Yisheng, a Chinese bridge expert, believed that it should be listed among the existing large ancient stone bridges in China. The bridge is now a key cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province.
