It is not certain where Afanti is from, but most people believe that Afanti is a Turk. He was originally a philosopher with extraordinary intelligence, quick thinking, and humorous speaking. He traveled throughout the vast Ottoman Empire across Asia, Europe, and Africa. Travel notes from around the world written under his signature were found in Baku and Tabriz. His story originated among Turkic-speaking peoples, such as Turks and Uzbeks.

In order to restore the character of Afanti , the creative team of "The Adventures of Avanti" visited Xinjiang for one month in 2015. In the local Dafu Sangai Village of Grape Valley, a fellow villager said that the prototype of Afanti was born between 1777 and 1876 AD and died at the age of 100. He was born in a poor family and was so talented that he could translate Arabic books at the age of 17.

Due to the various oppression and exploitation of the people by the King of Turpan, Bayi, wealthy businessmen, and religions at that time, the majority of the working people lived in poverty. Afanti deeply sympathized with the suffering of the people and was strongly dissatisfied with the exploiters, so he bravely stood up to fight against the forces of darkness.

After the creators of "Afanti: The Adventures of Romance" visited Dafu Sangai Village in Grape Valley, they created a "Grape City" based on history for Avanti's hometown in the animated film. During the design process of Grape City, the main creator also referred to a large number of aerial photographs of the ruins of Jiaohe Ancient City. Of course, due to the various legends about Afanti, it is still unknown whether the small village near Grape Valley is really the birthplace of Afanti.
