Xu Xiake, a famous geographer in Ming Dynasty, came to Tengchong, Yunnan more than 300 years ago, and said that "Tengyue is the south gate of the city, that is, when the street is north, the south of the city is very prosperous, but there is nothing in the city and nothing in the west", exclaiming that this border city is "the first city in the extreme".

Tengchong City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, managed by Baoshan City and located in the southwest of Yunnan Province. Located in the west of Baoshan City, it borders Longyang District in the east, Longling County and lianghe county in the south, Yingjiang County and Myanmar Union in the west, and Lushui City in Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture in the northeast.
