Wenchang Pavilion is a three-story pagoda-shaped building located at the old east gate site in Guiyang City.

It was built in 1609 and was originally a place dedicated to the Taoist deity Wenchang Emperor. Because the corners of domestic attic buildings are all uniform, Jiujiao Wenchang Pavilion is unique and an ancient building as famous as Jiaxiu Tower.

Changge is located in the wide and tall Yuecheng at the east gate. Its architecture is simple yet grand. There are side rooms on either side of the attic. In front of it, there is a study connected to the side hall. The floor plan is quadrilateral. There are 9 beams on the second and third floors of the pavilion, 9 corners on the roof, 54 columns, and 81 beams, all of which are multiples of 9. In ancient times, "9" usually represented the highest power and highest level, which shows the designer's ingenuity. Although Wenchang Pavilion is no longer a Taoist place but a teahouse for local people, this classic and special ancient building is still worth a visit for tourists who like history and architecture.
