If I were asked to choose, I would choose a combination like Canon 650D with 18-135mm lens (Nikon also has similar kits to choose from). First of all, the entry-level camera 650D is light enough that hanging around the neck or carrying it in a bag will not be a big burden. Secondly, the 18-135mm lens covers the focal length from wide angle to telephoto, and has wider applicability than the 18-55mm lens. Finally, the image quality of the 650D's 18-megapixel sensor and DIGIC V processor is very good, and the inverting touch screen also makes it easier to use, making it very suitable for travel. The only thing you need to worry about is that the aperture of the lens is not wide enough, which may cause some problems when shooting night scenes. However, I do not recommend using a tripod because the most important thing when traveling is portability. You can boldly use high ISO. We generally look at photos around 800 pixels. Noise is not a big problem at this size.

Perhaps you think that the image quality of 650D and 18-135mm lens is not good enough? From a purely theoretical point of view, you may be right. The image quality of this set of equipment is definitely not as good as that of 5D III with red circle lens, but The picture quality is good enough to satisfy most home users. After all, what we pursue is not pure picture quality, but practicality.
