My trip to Wuling Mountain with my little cousin

Wulin Mountain is the best place near Beijing to watch the sunrise, sunset and sea of ??clouds. Don’t miss it if you pass by.

The reason is that my little cousin said that I have not confessed to her yet and we got together so easily. I must make up for her. I knew she liked to watch the sunrise, so I came up with the following. I won’t say anything, let’s look at the pictures first, and then talk about the strategy. Wuling Mountain is very suitable for self-driving tours, but not suitable for hiking, because the mountain road is more than 20 kilometers winding and the transportation is not convenient. If you don’t have good physical strength, you must not try to climb the mountain on foot. Wuling Mountain has a north gate, a west gate, and a south gate. Xinglong County is about ten kilometers away from the south gate, 100 kilometers away from the north gate, and 50 kilometers away from the west gate. Famous scenic spots in Wuling Mountain include the sunrise on the summit, Immortal Tower, Big Character Stone, and Longtan Waterfall. But I was only interested in the sea of ??clouds and the sunrise, and I didn’t go out of my way to see other scenic spots.

Beijing-Xinglong County: Take the Beijing-Xinglong County train K7711, which departs at 7:50 and reaches Xinglong County in two and a half hours.

Xinglong County-Wulingshan: The train station is relatively close to the South Gate. It costs 50 yuan to take a taxi. You can also take bus No. 2, but the terminal is five kilometers away from the South Gate ticket office and you still need to walk. 1 hour.

South Gate of Wuling Mountain - Immortal Tower: The entrance fee to Wuling Mountain is 120 yuan per person. It takes about 40 minutes to drive to the top of the mountain. Each vehicle must pay a 60 yuan mountain climbing fee. If you're walking up a hill, don't carry any weight as it can be really tiring. You can drive or hike the first seven kilometers by hiking the climbing steps, which end at the Immortal Pagoda. There are usually private cars and tour group cars at Xianren Tower. If you are lucky, you can take a ride to the top of the mountain. My little cousin and I both carried weights. I carried 10 kilograms and my little cousin carried 5 kilograms. It took a total of 2 and a half hours to climb from the foot of the mountain to the Immortal Tower, of which about half an hour was spent resting and taking photos.

Immortal Pagoda - Lotus Pond Hotel: This distance is about 7 kilometers. From Immortal Pagoda, you can take the winding road up the mountain. You can also take this road when driving. After my little cousin and I arrived at the Immortal Tower, we were too tired so we took a bus from another tour group, which cost 60 yuan per person. The Lotus Pond Hotel is 1,800 meters above sea level. All accommodation and food are available here. A single double room costs 380 yuan. The food is not very tasty, but there is no other place to eat. In fact, there are two hotels on the mountain, in addition to the Lotus Pond Hotel and the Summit Hotel on the top of the mountain. The Summit Hotel is more expensive, with a room said to be 700-800 yuan per night. Because we went there on September 9th, which is the off-season, accommodation is relatively cheap. It is said that one night can cost more than 1,000 yuan in the summer peak season.

Lotus Pond Hotel - Summit: This distance is 6 kilometers. My little cousin and I walked there to watch the sunset. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes to walk around and take photos. The peak is 2,100 meters above sea level. It is very cold in the morning and evening, so you need to rent military coats. The rental fee for military coats at Lianhuachi Hotel is 20 yuan per piece, while Peak requires 50 yuan per piece with an additional 100 yuan deposit.

Sunset-sunrise: You can reach the top of the mountain at five o'clock in the afternoon and watch the beautiful sunset. At around 4:30 in the morning, take a bus from another tour group to the top of the mountain, and then go to the highest point to wait for the sunrise. It is not recommended to get up in the morning and walk to watch the sunrise. Firstly, it is too cold at the top of the mountain, and secondly, it is too dark and unsafe. After watching the sunrise, we took the tour group’s bus to the Lotus Pond Hotel and prepared to go down the mountain.

Going down the mountain: It takes about 3 hours to walk down the mountain from Lianhuachi Hotel. It happened to rain when we were going down the mountain, so my little cousin and I held umbrellas and walked. After walking for a while, I met a couple driving from Qinhuangdao. This couple was very enthusiastic and insisted on sending my little cousin and I down the mountain to take a photo of the couple.

Seeing how loving this couple was, my little cousin felt yearned for them and began to imagine whether we would be like this when we grow old. My little cousin is not my real cousin, I just call her little cousin for fun and she calls me big cousin. On the way down the mountain, we visited another scenic spot. The photo above was taken secretly from behind when we went to the scenic spot. My husband’s knee hurt, but his wife wanted to visit this scenic spot, so her husband endured the pain and went along with her. My little cousin and I also got out of the car (it was raining lightly).

We separated from the couple at the foot of the mountain and walked towards the mountain gate. We encountered a hawthorn tree on the way, and my little cousin’s foodie mode started.

Shanmen-Xinglong County Bus Station: Since there are neither buses nor taxis at Shanmen, and the nearest bus station No. 2 is 5 kilometers away, there is no choice but to drive away, which takes about an hour. At the foot of the mountain is Yanshi Village, with farmhouses everywhere. When you walk to the entrance of the village, you will find the No. 2 bus stop. Unfortunately, the village is too long. When we asked for directions on the way, we met two simple mountain people who gave us two crisp pears just picked from the trees.

Because I met a kind-hearted couple and honest farmers on the mountain, I was in a good mood, and by the way I did two good deeds: I helped the farmers get change on the bus, and I helped the bus driver to light the cart. The car broke down, so we four men pushed the car until it caught fire).

Xinglong County – Beijing: Take a long-distance bus from Xinglong County Xinzhan Bus Terminal to Wangjing West Subway Station, which takes about two hours. The last bus is at four o'clock in the afternoon, so be careful not to miss it.

This is the two-day trip to Wuling Mountain. Not only did I see the beautiful scenery, but I was also moved by the people I met. I felt that life is still full of sunshine and there are still many good people in the world.
