Must-visit attractions on a one-day trip to Chongzuo

The first must-see attraction on a one-day trip to Chongzuo is Detian Waterfall.

Detian Waterfall is located in Detian Village, Shuolong Town, Daxin County, Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on the upper reaches of the Guichun River on the border between China and Vietnam. The waterfall is majestic and spectacular, and is closely related to the adjacent Ban Gioc Falls in Vietnam is connected and is the largest transnational waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest in the world. The average annual water flow is about three times that of Huangguoshu Falls in Guizhou. It is a national AAAAA tourist attraction in China.

Detian Waterfall is also the filming location for "Wine Is Hometown" and "A Thousand Bones of Flowers", which is magical and wonderful. In January 2016, the National Tourism Administration and the Ministry of Environmental Protection planned to identify Dadetian Scenic Area in Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as a national eco-tourism demonstration area. On October 17, 2018, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced 9 national 5A-level tourist attractions that have met the national 5A-level tourist attraction standards and were designated as national 5A-level tourist attractions. Among them, Detian Waterfall is on the list. Affected by the epidemic, the scenic spot resumed operations in March 2020.

The formation where Detian Waterfall is located is mainly Devonian dolomitic limestone, which is a typical karst waterfall. Its upper reaches is the Guichun River that flows through Vietnam. This section of the river is a branch-type river with a wide and shallow river bed and many central islands and beaches. When approaching Detian Falls, the height difference between the river bed downstream of the waterfall and the river bed at the top of the waterfall is about 6 meters. The river is seeking the shortest path to reach the downstream water surface, causing the water of the Guichun River to take its way through the dolomite buds in the upper river bed of the waterfall. .

Detian Waterfall is located in the upper reaches of the Guichun River in Daxin County, about 50 meters away from the No. 53 boundary marker on the China-Vietnam border. The clear Guichun River is a tributary of Zuojiang River and the border river between China and Vietnam. Detian Waterfall is a masterpiece when it flows through Putang Island. The mighty Guichun River rushes in from the north. The Putang Island with three stacks of high cliffs stands majestically, blocking the flow of the river. The river tumbles down from the cliff more than 50 meters high and hits the solid rocks. The water is splashing in all directions, and the water mist is hazy. From a distance, it looks like silk hanging from the sky, and from a close look, it looks like flying beads splashing jade. It is colorful through the refraction of the sun.

The sound of rushing water shakes the river valley and is very majestic. The waterfall falls in three levels, with a maximum width of more than 200 meters, a depth of more than 60 meters, a drop of more than 70 meters, and an average annual flow rate of 50 cubic meters/second. The geology of the location is thick-layered dolomite. It is the largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia and has been designated as a special attraction by the country. It is connected with Ban Gioc Waterfall in Vietnam, like a pair of close sisters. The Chinese and Vietnamese border residents carried out border trade at the lower reaches of the waterfall. They used to carry people on their shoulders.
