Beijing Niujie Food Secrets
The original intention of writing this article is that Lao Chan remembered that he and his family traveled to Beijing earlier and lived near the food area Niujie. However, because he did not know what the real food was and where it was hidden, As a result, my family and I had a lot of troubles, and we were even disappointed with Niujie snacks. Later, I made friends with several Nancheng gourmets and I continued to explore and explore food. I summarized this "food" secret book and shared it with everyone.
Without further ado, let’s get straight to the practical stuff.
Let’s walk in from the north entrance of Niujie Street and talk:
1. Zhengxingde Tea Shop: a first-class Beijing-Tianjin time-honored brand, founded in Tianjin, with a history of a hundred years, mainly selling jasmine tea . Gao Sha has become an internet celebrity in the past two years. Some tea shops specialize in crushing ordinary jasmine tea and selling it as Gao Sha. Zhengxingde doesn't do that. You have to take the opportunity to buy Zhengxingde Gao Sui, because Zheng Er Ba Jing Gao Sui is the base of various tea leaves, tea foam, and "zheluo" mixed together. A friend from Niujie once gave me a pound of Zhengxingde high-chopped rice. It was really broken, but it was so fragrant! In addition to high broken pieces, tea in Zhengxing Delhi costs tens to hundreds of dollars (per catty). It is a good choice to buy some according to the situation or give it to friends to drink. One more thing: The salespersons in Zhengxing Delhi still have old-fashioned paper packaging skills, which is amazing...
2. Turpan Restaurant: This is a restaurant with Beijing and Xinjiang flavors. I think local restaurants should still be found in the place of origin. If you want to taste authentic Beijing food, you don’t have to go through this detour - I had an authentic Xinjiang meal in Beijing - it sounds a bit humorous. The reason why I write about Turpan Restaurant is because the breakfast here is quite Nancheng: oil cakes, which are divided into sugar oil cakes and white oil cakes. White oil cakes are similar to fried dough sticks - halal is an independent faction in Beijing's catering. I have never seen a fried dough sticks seller in Beijing for halal breakfast. Drinking soy milk with fried dough sticks is similar to eating fried dough sticks in other places. Sugar pancakes are a specialty of Nancheng, Beijing, and cannot be eaten outside Beijing. It is a white oil cake with a layer of sugar coating on it before frying. After frying, it has a caramel aroma, which is very distinctive. Steamed buns, mainly beef and green onions. Tofu curd, soy milk, bean soup, offal soup, meatball soup, noodle tea and other breakfast soups...
3. Hongji: The breakfast in Hongji is similar to that in Turpan. Which one has less queues? Which one will you eat? The breakfast at both restaurants is very authentic Nancheng style. In addition to breakfast, Hong Kee offers various Beijing-style cakes, fried cakes, toothpick meat, vegetable nests, etc. People line up every day...
4. Niujie Supermarket: Don’t underestimate the supermarket, this place is hidden Lots of delicious snacks. In the lobby on the first floor, there are many traditional time-honored dim sum stalls such as Dashunzhai and Guisuzhai. Here you can safely purchase a variety of traditional pastries: Saqima, Zi Lai Hong, Tao Su... In addition to dim sum shops, there are also some snack stalls, such as Baiji rice cakes and cheese Wei, all of which are available here. There are stalls with names such as Yueshengzhai in the supermarket on the basement floor. Don’t miss it...
5. Jubaoyuan: the first Shabu Shabu in Beijing. There is always a queue. If you don't queue for two hours during peak hours, you won't be able to get your turn. Specializing in traditional shabu-shabu. Lao Chan himself has lived in Niujie scatteredly for dozens of months, and has only eaten at Jubaoyuan twice, both after ten o'clock in the evening. It is so popular... Naturally, there are reasons for people to be popular, and many people rush to it. Came to this Niujie store. However, Taoranting has a branch in Jubaoyuan, not far from Niujie Street. You can search on the map, or leave a message in the comment area of ??Laochan. Laochan will give you the address of Taoranting store, so I won’t go into details here.
6. Lao Cheng Yi Sheep Scorpion: If you like eating Sheep Scorpion, this is the right place to go. But what Lao Chan highly recommends is this restaurant’s Manji Paodu, while Manji Paodu mainly recommends their roasted mutton and sesame-fried meat with meat. Needless to say, they are the best! ! !
7. Lian Ke Xuan Four Seasons Shabu Shabu: Like Ju Bao Yuan, it specializes in copper pot shabu shabu, but because the Ju Bao Yuan mentioned above is so popular, it has overshadowed Lian Ke Xuan, but in terms of quality , I think a shabu-shabu restaurant of this level won't be much different - but this one doesn't have a queue. After trying it myself, Lao Chan said, unless you just want to experience the feeling of queuing at Jubaoyuan, if you just want to eat shabu-shabu, this restaurant is suitable!
8. Yuanyixuan Roast Chicken: This is definitely a gourmet restaurant that exists like a worldly expert! This store is not on the street of Niujie Street, but is hidden deep in Chunfeng Community. When you enter the small area, it makes people think that you are just rushing to eat. There are many people asking about this store, and you can find it yourself. There is a high chance that you will have to take a lot of wrong turns. The roasted chicken is stuffed with mushrooms and other ingredients, and it will definitely live up to your expectations. In addition to roasted chicken, the fried fish at this restaurant, hey, tastes like the Chinese New Year when I was a kid...
Enter Hutong
9. Baoji Bean Juice Shop: Bean juice, if you can drink it, I recommend it, if you can't Drink and ignore. Fried rice cake, pickled cabbage, hawthorn cake
10. Baiji rice cake: various cut cakes (white rice, purple rice), donkey rolling (bean flour, coconut paste), aiwowo, sugar ears , Tang Huo Shao, Pea Yellow
11. Manji Shaobing: I have been eating it since their store opened. They just started a promotion, buy five and get one free for one dollar each. There were very few queues at that time, but now it has become an Internet celebrity store. The quality is still online and the price has not increased. If you are dissatisfied, you will be given away. The sesame seed cakes are available in salt and pepper and sesame sauce, and the chicken drumsticks are three for ten yuan - for this price and their quality, it is definitely a conscience among consciences!
12. Meat Pie Wan: I have written specifically about their meat pie, which has a fragrant filling and a thin skin. If you are interested, you can read another article by Lao Chan.
Jiaozi Hutong
13. Mu Delou, Dashuntang, Tiankelai: Taken together, these restaurants all sell traditional halal stir-fries and roast duck. They have private rooms, which is suitable for dinner. Tiankelai has bean juice, if you want to try it, you can try it. The quality of these companies is almost the same, and they basically don’t make mistakes. Recommended specialties: rolled fruit, sesame tofu, and vinegared musu
14. Xiangyunxuan (mending meat pie): This restaurant's signature "mending meat pie" has a better word than "xiangyunxuan" Eye-catching, if you just think that their store is just for buying "door nails", you are totally wrong. That's why I ignored this store in the early days of my stay in Chiniu Street. The door-nail meatloaf is their signature dish and a must-try. Their cooking is no less good than the three restaurants just introduced. Recommended small bowl of braised beef...
Well, Niujie is a key landmark of Beijing’s Nancheng cuisine. If I can’t finish it all at once, there must be some omissions. Welcome all fellow gourmets to leave comments in the comment area. There are so many delicacies that I think you can’t finish them all at once. If you are traveling to Beijing, it is better to find a hotel to stay in Niujie, start with breakfast and have three meals a day, and stay for a few days to experience the life in Nancheng. There are Hanting Hotel and Orange Hotel, which are reasonably priced.
