What is the history and overview of Kaiping City, Guangdong Province?
Kaiping County was established in the Ming Dynasty and was named after the county seat was in Kaiping Tun. On January 5, 1993, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved (Minxing Approval [1993] No. 1) to abolish Kaiping County and establish Kaiping City. On June 21, 1999, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved (Minfa [1999] No. 45) to move the headquarters of the Kaiping Municipal People's Government from No. 135 Yanjiang East Road, Changsha, Sanbu Street to No. 1 Guanghua Road, Changsha, Changsha Street. In 2000, Kaiping City governed 3 streets and 15 towns.
