During this period, after nearly a thousand years of continuous excavation, the Mogao Grottoes have become the largest and richest grottoes in the world, integrating architecture, stone carving, mural painting and colored plastic arts in various periods. These art treasures not only reflect the religious and social life in medieval China, but also show the outstanding wisdom and extraordinary achievements of the working people of all ages. 1900, the "Tibetan Sutra Cave" was accidentally discovered in the Mogao Grottoes, which contained 50,000 to 60,000 pieces of cultural relics from the 4th century to14th century. This is an important archaeological discovery in China in the early 20th century, which shocked the world. Since then, the famous "Dunhuang studies" have developed. The sand falls with the feet, and this kind of landscape is really rare after the first stay. Crescent spring surrounds Mingsha Mountain, which looks like a crescent moon, hence its name. Therefore, it is located in Xiaofang City in the northwest of Dunhuang, Gansu. Yangguan and Yumenguan were once important military passes and traffic arteries on the Silk Road in Han Dynasty. Speaking of Yumenguan, everyone will immediately think of a well-known Tang poem, Wang Zhihuan's "Liangzhou Ci": "The Yellow River is far above the white clouds, and there is a lonely city of Wan Ren. Why bother to complain about the willow, the spring breeze is only Yumenguan. " The tragic and desolate artistic conception in the poem has aroused our yearning for this ancient fortress. Yumenguan, commonly known as Xiaofangcheng, is located 90 kilometers northwest of Dunhuang City. According to legend, during the Western Han Dynasty, the beautiful jade in the western regions and Hotan entered the Central Plains through this pass, hence the name. After the opening of the Silk Road, cultural and trade exchanges between the East and the West have become increasingly prosperous. In order to ensure the safety and smoothness of the Silk Road, around12107 BC, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty ordered the construction of "two customs", namely, Yangguan and Yumen Pass.

This is a typical landform community in Ya Dan, with orderly layout and peculiar shape. It is a rare museum of natural sculpture. It can be called another wonder of Dunhuang, and it is a wonderful masterpiece of nature.

The Ya Dan in Dunhuang is hard and light red. It is about 15km long from east to west and 2km wide from north to south, which is in sharp contrast with the blue Gobi Desert and stands out against the blue sky and white clouds. When you enter Ya Dan, when the wind blows, ghosts are dense and you can't go out at night. Locals usually call Ya Dan a "ghost town". The whole looks like a medieval castle. This peculiar castle is the result of geological changes and natural wind and sand sculptures, and it is a masterpiece of nature. The whole landform group in Ya Dan is different in height, patchwork and orderly in layout. Castle walls, streets, buildings, squares, sculptures. Just like the elaborate layout of an ingenious designer. Every Ya Dan landform has its own form, which is peculiar and vivid. Like pagodas, palaces, wheat stacks, golden peacocks towering overlooking, eagles flying with wings, fleets braving the wind and waves in the sea, warriors glaring in the distance, and graceful beauties. Here, the peculiar Ya Dan landform will make you feel relaxed and free your thoughts and imagination; Here you can expand your imagination and appreciate the magical beauty of nature.

Drive from Dunhuang, cross a large Gobi desert, reach the prestigious Yumenguan in about an hour, and then walk 85 kilometers west along Shule Valley, which used to be the ancient Silk Road. Along the way, the ruins of the Great Wall of Han Dynasty and beacon tower are faintly visible, swamps and meadows are contiguous, reeds are clustered around the lake, and waterfowl play on the lake. From time to time, waterfowl such as wild ducks, geese and swans flap the water and fly to the blue sky. Deep in the desert, apocynum venetum, red willow, Populus euphratica and camel thorn weave a pleasing picture scroll. Gradually, the swamp dried up, the meadow disappeared, and the valley was lost in the Gobi Desert, surrounded by a sea of Wang Yang. Soon, you will find that on the flat riverbed, mounds and peaks stand abruptly, just like buildings, patchwork, some like buildings, some like churches, some like mosques, and some like yurts; Even the Tiantan in Beijing, the Potala Palace in Tibet, the pyramids in Egypt and the Sphinx can be found here. The lion in the desert, the camel team on the Silk Road, the sea of turtles, the mainstay, all the "sculptures" are lifelike. Being in it is like entering the exhibition hall of architectural art, which makes people dizzying.
