Take a bus from Hangzhou to Jiashan in the morning. Both cars and trains are acceptable. It takes more than an hour to arrive. There are many buses to Xitang at Jiashan Bus Station, priced at 3 yuan/person.

After asking about it later, I found out: No tickets are required from Monday to Thursday. Tickets are required every Friday from 12:00 to 17:00, Saturday from 8:00 to 17:00, and Sunday from 8:00 to 12:00. However, there are many alleys that lead into the ancient town.

Most of the hotels in Xitang are family-oriented, and they all renovate old houses into guest rooms. The main reason for going to Xitang is to relax, so accommodation must be particular. The inn I stayed at was located next to the Songzilaifeng Bridge, next to the river, right in the center of the scenic area, and it was a good place to rest and enjoy the scenery. Although the room is small, it is fully equipped with private bathroom, air conditioning, TV and water heater. The host family was very welcoming and brought a bowl of cold mung bean soup as soon as we met.
