What is the origin and development direction of Xingcheng City in Liaoning Province?
The origin of the name Haicheng, according to the "Research on Manchurian Place Names", there is no relevant record. It is said that this place was once a vast sea a long time ago. Later, due to changes in geological structure, the earth's crust rose and gradually became land. During the reign, it was named Haicheng. One theory is that the name of "Haicheng" county comes from "Haizhou". In 925 AD, the Liao Dynasty destroyed the Bohai Kingdom and changed the land of Bohai to Dongdan Kingdom. In 928, Emperor Taizong of the Liao Dynasty ordered the people of Dongdan to move to Liangshui (now Taizi River), and the people of Nanhai Prefecture moved westward. As people move, place names also move with them. This is the origin of Linming and Haizhou. In the 10th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, "Haizhou" was changed to "Haicheng".
Haicheng belonged to Liaodong County of Yan State during the Warring States Period. During the Han Dynasty, three counties were built in the county: Xinchang (now Xiangyangzhai, Ganquan Town), Liaodui (east bank of Sancha River today, Xisi Town), and Anshi (now Yingchengzi, Bali Town). During the Three Kingdoms period, Wei occupied the north and belonged to Pingzhou, which was later changed to Youzhou. During the Western Jin Dynasty, Xinchang, Liaodui (tunnel), and Anshi counties were all abandoned. In the fourth year of Yan Guangshi (404) after the Sixteenth Kingdom of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was divided by Goguryeo for more than 260 years. In the first year of the General Chapter of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty (668), the territory was unified and Anshi Prefecture was placed under the jurisdiction of the Andong Protectorate. Yelu Abaoji, the leader of the Khitan tribe, established the Liao Kingdom, and built Linming County in its territory, which was the seat of Haizhou Nanhai Navy. There were Xianxiang County (Yongfeng County in Bohai Kingdom) and Ximu County in its territory, which was governed by Tongzhou (in Bohai Kingdom). Huashan County), are all under the jurisdiction of Liaoyang Prefecture, Tokyo Road. In 1125, when the Jin Dynasty destroyed the Liao Dynasty, it changed Haizhou into Chengzhou, which governed Linming and Ximu counties and was under the jurisdiction of Tokyo Road. After the Yuan Dynasty destroyed the Jin Dynasty, all the prefectures and counties within the territory were abolished in 1297, and "Inspection Department Town" was established, which was under the jurisdiction of Liaoyang Road. In the Ming Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of the Liaodong Capital Command and Envoy Division. In 1653, it came under the jurisdiction of Liaoyang Prefecture. Liaoyang was evacuated, and Haicheng belonged to Fengtian Prefecture. After the Revolution of 1911, it belonged to Liaoshen Road of Fengtian Prefecture. In 1929, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Liaoning Province. After the "September 18th" Incident in 1931, Japanese imperialism invaded and occupied Haicheng County, which belonged to Fengtian Province. The Haicheng County People's Government was established on November 2, 1945. In the spring of 1946, the Kuomintang occupied it. Haicheng was re-liberated in September 1947. In 1948, the entire Northeast was liberated, and Haicheng County came under the jurisdiction of Liaodong Province. In 1954, Liaodong and Western Liaoning merged to form Liaoning Province, and Haicheng County came under the leadership of the Liaoyang Special Administrative Office. Returned to Anshan City in 1959. In 1965, he returned to the Liaonan Special Administrative Region. In 1967, the Haicheng County Revolutionary Committee was established, under the jurisdiction of Yingkou City. In 1973, it was classified as a county under the jurisdiction of Anshan City.
On January 17, 1985, the State Council decided to revoke Haicheng County and establish Haicheng City (county-level city).
