Where is Badong Shennongxi Tourist Area?

Badong Shennongxi Tourist Area is a famous tourist attraction for leisure and vacation in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

Shennong Creek originates from the main peak of Shennongjia, flows through Badong County, Hubei Province, passes through deep mountains and canyons from north to south, and joins the Yangtze River in the east at the mouth of Wu Gorge. Shennong Creek is a typical canyon stream with tight peaks on both sides and towering cliffs. The stream collides between the knife-like canyon walls. The waterway is tortuous. There are more than 60 dangerous shoals, long shoals, curved shoals and shoals in the rapid stream. Although the waterway is narrow and fast, it is clear and shallow, and rafting is extremely exciting and safe.

The Shennong River flows through three canyons with different scenery - Mianzhu Gorge, Parrot Gorge and Longchangdong Gorge. The scenery on both sides of the river is wonderful, and there are few open spaces in the canyon. At the narrowest point, the distance between the two banks is only 7 meters. Boating in the gorge is like passing through a secluded alley with heavy doors. Mountains hundreds of meters high were coming towards us, and we could barely see the waterway in front of us.

In the Mianzhu Gorge, which is famous for its dangers, there are many caves on the cliffs that are difficult to climb, huge stalactites hanging upside down, the river bed is narrow and the drop is large, and there are more than 30 dangerous shoals of various sizes in the 4-kilometer channel. Rafting by boat depends entirely on the skill of the boatman. It makes your heart beat fast, but it is safe without any danger.

Parrot Gorge is the most beautiful of the three gorges. The vegetation on both sides is hanging like tassels, evergreen all year round, rocks seeping with water, waterfalls and springs, and wonders appear again and again. There is a section of the canyon where you can see blooming flowers no matter in the middle of winter or hot summer, so it is named Nianhuatan; there is a place with nine streams of water, and multiple streams of spring water gush out from the springs beside the stream, which can be divided into three colors: clear, turbid and mixed, so it is named after Color spring.

The last canyon of Shennong River is Longchangdong Gorge. The width of this gorge is less than 20 meters. The two sides of the gorge stand in the water. It is continuous and twists and turns for more than 5,000 meters. There is a large Leitang Gorge. The hero of the door. Along the way, you can see cultural landscapes - rock coffins and ancient plank roads. On the cliff 150 meters above the water on the east bank of the gorge, there are many small caves with rock coffins placed in different depths, which are clearly visible to the naked eye.

Shennong Creek can be called a pollution-free natural stream. The water is crystal clear and clear to the bottom. Except for the three-color spring, there is almost no trace of muddy water. The bottom of the stream is dotted with colorful stones, like flowers. Where the water is turbulent, the water is like snow and fog, and the boat is flying; where the water is slow, a quiet flat lake is formed, with unpredictable dark green, and the boat is rippling; in the shoal, the water is knee deep, and the bottom of the boat rubs against the pebbles in the river, making a rattling sound, all due to fiber pulling.

The boat used to raft the Shennong River is shaped like a half-cut pea pod, which the locals call a pea pod. It is small and light, made of hard and wear-resistant oak wood, has high buoyancy and a shallow draft. You can drive in shallow areas where the water is knee-deep. Wandoujiao is entirely operated manually, and each boat requires six boatmen. The boatman's punting is the most scenic spot in Shennong Creek. The Shennong River is steep and dangerous, and the boatmen have almost no place to stand, so they have to wade through the water to pull fibers. The captain at the front and the captain at the stern took the lead in shouting the trumpet, which shook the canyon. With all his strength, he was pulled onto the beach. When it was launched, the boat was running wildly in the zigzag waterway. The captain controlled the direction of the boat with an oar and a pole in his hands. The boat rushed rapidly in the turbulent water, and the hearts of the passengers on the boat were beating like drums.

Shennong River passes through two small Tujia villages. The village, nestled among bamboos, banana leaves, citrus groves and tallow trees, looks like a paradise. The stream here is quiet and flat, and the beach is full of colorful stones. Visitors can rest in the Tujia stilted buildings, swim, or pick up stones, or go to the village to visit the ancient and primitive water mills and stone mills, and watch the Tujia people's rough Bashan dance and folk songs. Taste, Baogu wine and Tujia food.
