The historical evolution of chengde mountain resort;

After pacifying the San Francisco rebellion, Kangxi gradually began to focus on consolidating the northern border defense and territory. He believes that the lessons of history have proved that no matter how strong the Great Wall is, it can't resist the invasion of powerful enemies, so he began to adopt the policy of "combining loving the people with suppressing the Communist Party" to strengthen relations with neighboring ethnic minorities and enhance the cohesion of the Chinese nation. So, on the basis of Mulan paddock, which was still used for autumn hunting at that time, the Jehol Palace and Waiba Temple were built.

As the summer resort of the Xia emperors and the place where they handled government affairs, the Summer Resort has become the largest existing royal palace in China after 90 years' expansion by the emperors Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong, with an area of about twice that of the Summer Palace and eight times that of the Forbidden City. Jehol (Chengde) therefore enjoyed the reputation of "Kyoto beyond the Great Wall" and became the second largest political center after Beijing in the early Qing Dynasty.
