Overview of Chitwan National Park
Nepal is the third most attractive place for tourists after hiking and Kathmandu Valley. Fiona Fang is a vast and beautiful nature reserve, covering an area of 932 square kilometers, including forests, swamps and continuous grasslands in Borneo. The park is one of the last habitats of the endangered animal rhinoceros unicornis. There are many tigers, leopards and rare puffer fish living in the park.
Before the anti-government armed unrest broke out, 92% of the tourists who came to Nepal had been to Chitwan (an amazing number), but since 200 1, the number of tourists has dropped sharply. The high-end hotels in the park still attract more tourists, but several low-cost hotels in Solaha have closed, and the prices of other hotels have also dropped sharply.
On the one hand, the decrease in the number of tourists is beneficial to wildlife: if there are no tourists sitting on the elephant's back and shouting, the prey will be more easily caught. However, since the Nepalese army stopped patrolling the park, poaching has become increasingly rampant, especially the number of rhinos has decreased. Many tourists come to Chitwan by joining tour groups organized by Kathmandu, Boquera or foreign travel agencies. So far, if you are willing to stay in a high-class hotel in the park, traveling with a group is the easiest way to get here.
If your financial resources do not allow you to stay in a high-class hotel in the park, the nearby town of Solaha is a good choice. On the river bank 6 kilometers south of Mahindra Highway SaurahaChowk(TandiBazaar), there is a small but vibrant tourist center with hotels, restaurants, bars, money exchange offices, travel agencies, Internet cafes and more than a dozen shops selling Nepalese souvenirs, from pirated CDs to Tiger Claw-shaped ashtrays.
The wildness of Solaha has been destroyed by indiscriminate development, but the environment here is still beautiful: wide rivers flow slowly, and dense forests move away like a wall along the winding river bank. There are countless activities in the jungle, and the nearby countryside is dotted with rice fields and several Talu villages. In fact, you can play here more than staying in an expensive hotel in the park.
When planning to visit Chiwang Park, set aside enough time for yourself to take several long walks. Wild animals are unpredictable, and there is no guarantee that you can see them once. If you want to see wildlife, you must stay in the park for at least two days. Note that Chitwan's common four-day and three-night group tour includes a one-day garden tour.
