The name Changwat Buriram means "City of Happiness" and is located in the northeast of Thailand, adjacent to Cambodia. It has a population of 1.5949 million and governs 23 counties (districts). The total area is 10,393.95 square kilometers, including 5,996.12 square kilometers of agricultural planting area and 3,595.00 square kilometers of forest area.

Buriram Province is divided into three seasons a year, namely hot season (February to May), rainy season (June to September) and cool season (October to January).
