Emei Mountain Travel Guide Detailed Edition Emei Mountain Hiking Route Map

Emei Mountain, located in Sichuan Province, is a Buddhist shrine with a long history and cultural charm. There are many literary works about Emei Mountain, especially the Emei martial arts that are often mentioned in martial arts novels, and they are well known. At present, Mount Emei still radiates infinite Buddha's light, attracting tourists' attention. Here is a detailed travel guide, hiking time and road map of Mount Emei.

Emei Mountain Scenic Area is quite famous, and it is a world-famous boutique tourist resort. It was rated as AAAAA-level scenic spot. The Dojo of Samantabhadra, one of the four great Buddhas in Han Buddhism, is here. Since ancient times, the strong incense has attracted countless pilgrims and literati to set foot here, forming their own unique sense of cultural belonging.

Traffic Guide:

I suggest you take the high-speed train or plane or train to Chengdu, Sichuan, and then start from Chengdu. It takes about three hours by bus or intercity train, and it takes about an hour and a half. Convenient transportation.

When traveling to Emei Mountain, you must know the scenic spot distribution map and tour guide map in advance, as shown below. On the map, the black dotted line is the pedestrian mountain road and the yellow line is the expressway.

Emei Mountain is a big scenic spot. The starting point of the scenic spot is Guobao Temple, which is located in the center of Emei Mountain. Guobao Temple is also the bus starting point of the scenic spot, where you can buy tickets for various parking spots in Emei Mountain.

Emei Mountain has both pedestrian plank roads and highways, so the route selection is flexible. You can choose to walk all the way up the mountain, or you can take a bus to Dongleiping, the highest point of Panshan Highway, and then walk to Jinding. You can also take a bus to Wuxiangang or Wannian Temple parking lot halfway up the mountain and start climbing.

Raiders of the whole journey:

It took me two days to walk all the way to Jinding. The most powerful man I have ever met. Young people with average physical strength need three days anyway. For middle-aged and elderly people, walking all the way is still not recommended. It is more appropriate to take a bus directly.

The starting point of hiking is Guobao Temple, which is the first temple in Emei Mountain. It was built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty and has a long history. This is a relatively large temple. You can visit the Buddha in the door, but you need to buy extra tickets (please note that it is not the ticket for Emei Mountain Scenic Area).

Walk up the hill next to Guobao Temple, pass through Khufu Temple, Leiyin Temple, Chunyang Temple and Zhongfeng Temple, and then reach Yin Qing Pavilion. The journey will take about three hours. There is a scenic gate on the road from Zhongfeng Temple to Yinqing Pavilion, where you can buy tickets for Emei Mountain Scenic Area (there is more than one ticket office in Emei Mountain, and you can buy tickets at other ticket offices when riding up the mountain).

Yin Qing Pavilion is an important transit point on Mount Emei, and it is also the location of Shuangqiao Yin Qing, one of the ten scenic spots in Emei. It is said to be an important transfer station because the road to the mountain is divided into two here, so you can choose two completely different roads to climb the mountain. One is the road to Yixiantian, Hongchunping and Xianfeng Temple, and the other is the road to Wannian Temple, Changping Ping and Huayanding. Both roads can go up the mountain and meet at Jiulinggang.

If you are in a hurry, it is suggested to take the road in the direction of Huayanding Temple in Wannian Temple, which will be shorter. If you want to enjoy the scenery along the way and the monkeys in Emei Mountain, it is suggested to take the direction of Xianfeng Temple in Hongchunping. This paper introduces the uphill road in the direction of Xianfeng Temple in Hongchunping.

Soon after Yin Qing Pavilion came out, it arrived at the famous Emei Ecological Monkey Zone. It is said that this is the largest wild natural monkey area in China at present, and many monkeys can be seen along the way. Be sure to take good care of your personal belongings when passing by. Monkeys in Emei Mountain will rob you.

After the Monkey Zone, it takes about 2 hours from Qingyin Pavilion to Hongchunping. Hongchunping is the location of "Hongxiaochunyu", one of the ten scenic spots in Emei. If you leave from Guobao Temple in the afternoon, you can consider staying in Hongchunping, because its 99-degree turn makes you smell bad. The picture below shows Hong Chunping's accommodation room.

after a night's rest here, I got up early in the morning and continued to set out for the mountains with mist. This section of the road goes through the famous ninety-nine bends. Ninety-nine bends are the most difficult part of hiking uphill in Emei Mountain. It turns and turns, one slope after another, with no end in sight. Climbing here still needs enough physical strength and endurance. Although climbing the mountain is very painful, the scenery along the way is very good. The mountain road is covered with dense vegetation, which deserves to be called "Emei is the best in the world".

After ninety-nine turns, you will arrive at Xianfeng Temple, the location of Jiu Lao Xian Fu, one of the ten scenic spots in Emei. Jiulao Cavern, the largest cave in Emei Mountain, is nearby. This is another gathering place for wild monkeys after the ecological monkey area, and it is also a relatively large accommodation point. Because it is difficult to walk from Hongchunping to Xianfeng Temple, it takes more time, about three to four hours, which varies from person to person.

The road behind Xianfeng Temple will be better, with beautiful scenery along the way and more spectacular peaks in the clouds. After a while, I passed a small temple called Yuxian Temple, which was also a place to stay, but I felt the environment was a little bad. Soon after, Yuxian Temple arrived at Jiulinggang, where the road from Huayanding, Wannian Temple, went up the mountain. Food and drinks are provided here.

After climbing up Jiugang, you will meet another famous dangerous road in Emei Mountain, Tiaotianpo. The mountain road here is very steep, with thousands of steps towering into the sky, which is daunting, hence the name "Drilling Tianpo". We need to refuel here and then rush to the famous Xixiangchi Scenic Area. According to legend, this is the best place to enjoy the moon on Mount Emei, and the "Xiangchi jathyapple", one of the ten scenic spots in Emei, is here. Xixiangchi Scenic Area is also a big foothold, and the accommodation conditions are relatively good. The time from Xianfeng Temple to Xixiangchi Scenic Area is about three hours.

When I walked out of Xixiangchi Scenic Area, I started to go to Dong Leiping. Although this section of the road is not too dangerous, the steps that stretch for several kilometers are endless, so it is named Lianwangpo, which is also one of the famous dangerous slopes on Mount Emei. After a two-hour journey, we arrived in Dong Leiping.

It is a big platform on Mount Emei in Dong Leiping. This is the highest point that a car can reach and the highest bus stop on the mountain. There are temples, hotels, restaurants and so on. There are all kinds of businesses. At the same time, Jieyin Temple near Dongleiping is still the stop of Jinding cableway.

There are two choices when you get to Dong Leiping:

1. Go straight for about three hours to get to Jinding. Stay in Jinding the next morning to watch the sunrise.

2. Rest in Dongleiping for one night, walk for 2 minutes in the morning to Jieyin Temple cableway station, take the cableway to Jinding and watch the sunrise in Jinding.

The above two possibilities need to be determined according to the time of arrival in Pingping, but it must be noted that the beds in Jinding are relatively tight and the price is often very expensive, which needs to be chosen according to the actual situation of individuals.

Jinding is the highest peak of Mount Emei, with an altitude of 377 meters. Above is a small plain with an original bronze temple. Under the sunshine, it is dazzling, hence the name Jinding. When you climb it, people will feel that everything is empty and magnificent and marvel at the wonders of heaven and earth.

When you look around, you can see the Chengdu Plain, and Qian Shan Wanling is undulating. You can vividly see Minjiang River, Qingyi River, Dadu River, Daxue Mountain, Wawu Mountain and Gongyi Mountain. There are four wonders of Emei: sunrise, sea of clouds, Buddha's light and magic lamp. Therefore, when you come to Mount Emei, Jinding is a must-see spot. These are some photos I took when I watched the sunrise in Jinding.

On the whole, Emei Mountain is a very good scenic spot. Although tickets are not cheap, natural scenery and cultural sites are worth visiting. Although hiking on Mount Emei is physically painful and difficult, it is the best way to experience the beauty of Mount Emei. Many people go up the mountain by car and take the cable car to Jinding. Although the tour was completed in one day, they could not fully understand the true beauty of Mount Emei.
