Yongshu Island Reef Fort Period

A striking monument to sovereignty stands on the pier of Yongshu Island. This sovereignty monument consists of three parts: the pedestal, the stem and the top. The monument has three layers of purple, marking the Xisha Islands, Nansha Islands and zhongsha islands, covering an area of 8.23 square kilometers, symbolizing the sea area of 823,000 square kilometers of Nansha Islands in China.

The height of the pillar in the sovereign monument is1.988m, which means that our army entered in 1988; The front of the monument is engraved with the words "Yongshu Reef" in red, the words "Nansha Islands in People's Republic of China (PRC)" on the right and the words "The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy was established in May 2000" on the left.

The back of the monument is engraved with three red characters "Yongshu Reef", the right side is engraved with the red words "Nansha Islands in People's Republic of China (PRC)" and the left side is engraved with the red words "Hainan Provincial People's Government was established in May 2000".

There is a big red "heart" pattern on the top of the monument, and a map of the people and country of China is engraved in the shape of "heart". In particular, the locations of Beijing and Nansha Yongshu Reef are marked with red five stars, which means "the motherland is in my heart" and "Nansha reef keepers will always be in Beijing".

The design and production of this sovereign monument were completed by the officers and men who guarded the reef themselves. At that time, Gong Yunchong, then the captain of the Nansha Garrison of the Navy, one of the top ten outstanding young people in China and now the deputy commander of a naval base in Hainan, was in charge of this task. He led the officers and men guarding the reef to build this sovereignty monument by using the remaining materials from the construction.

China has indisputable sovereignty over Nansha Islands and its adjacent waters. Since 1970s, some countries have illegally occupied some islands and reefs of Nansha Islands in China. China continues to demand that the countries concerned evacuate all personnel and facilities from the occupied islands and reefs of China. However, some countries strengthen their illegal existence by building projects and increasing armaments, and constantly take tort actions to infringe on China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. China firmly opposes this. Communications Department of Navy Command, Communications Department of South China Sea Fleet, China Mobile Hainan Branch and related engineers and technicians organized the construction, and successfully opened the mobile telephone service at Yongshu Reef in Nansha in late May of 20 10. For the first time, China Mobile's cell phone signal appeared in Nansha Islands, China.

China Telecom held the ceremony of opening CDMA3G base station and providing services in Yongshu Reef, Nansha, marking the official opening and operation of China Telecom 3G network in Yongshu Reef, Nansha Islands, Sansha City.

After the opening of 3G network, officers and soldiers guarding the reef can call and send short messages to relatives and friends far away from the mainland through the 3G network of China Telecom, and also visit their relatives through video calls.

In the first half of 20 13, seven 3G base stations will be opened in succession in other islands and reefs within the territorial waters of Nansha Islands, providing 3G network services for all reef-guarding officers and soldiers in Nansha and surrounding fishermen.

In addition to China Telecom, China Mobile also built the first mobile information station in Yongshu Reef, Nansha on 20 10, and realized the comprehensive coverage of mobile signals to the seven reefs and eight islands in Nansha sea area on July 9, 201. 1988, China established an ocean observatory at Yongshu Reef in Nansha, and built 10 beacon lights on five reefs in this sea area. The structure of these beacon lights is reinforced concrete base, and the tower body is glass fiber reinforced plastic. The tower is 7m high and1.8m in diameter.

Foreign news reports that China will build an airstrip at Yongshu Reef, but there is no domestic news to confirm it.

According to foreign analysis, Yongshu Island Ocean Exploration Station can accommodate about 200 people, including radio, radar, oil, maintenance personnel and so on. The building includes a helicopter platform, a 4000-ton wharf, a two-story building and a 500-square-meter vegetable shed.
