Introduction to Qingcheng Mountain The history of Qingcheng Mountain Scenic Area Dujiangyan Qingcheng Mountain One-day Tour Guide
The purpose of coming to Qingcheng Mountain this time is to make up for the regrets of the last time. In fact, I have been here before, but at that time there was not enough time and some external factors. In the end, I passed Qingcheng Mountain. In my heart It was a bit regretful, so after freeing up time this time, I decided to climb Qingcheng Mountain again to see the beautiful scenery and understand the diverse Taoist culture here...
The famous scholar Mr. Yu Qiuyu suffered from cultural hardship back then. After visiting Dujiangyan, he climbed Qingcheng Mountain and entered a Taoist temple to rest. He was recognized by a Taoist priest. In response to his entreaty, he wrote a couplet - "worship the water of Dujiangyan and ask about Qingcheng Mountain."
The words "worshiping water" and "asking questions" in the couplet are really wonderful. They not only accurately interpret the characteristics of the two scenic spots, but also connect the two scenic spots together, echoing each other and confirming each other. It has become the most vivid classroom for studying Chinese Taoist philosophy. If you only look at one of them, you cannot fully understand it.
This is a solo trip, full of expectations and a little fear. What I look forward to is that I can go to a Taoist holy land to ask questions and solve my doubts. What I am afraid of is that it is my first time to travel alone, which requires courage, experience and wisdom.
Finally I saw the holy land I longed for, and I felt quite excited.
Standing in front of me is the mountain gate of Qingcheng Mountain, which is hidden in the deep green. The gate adopts the typical Taoist double eaves structure, with two layers of eaves, and there are legendary mythological figures carved on the eaves. There are insects, birds and beasts, and the three gilt characters "山城青" (read from right to left) on the door are particularly dazzling. The couplets on both sides of the gate "collect eight hundred views at present, climb thirty-six peaks at the top" express the characteristics of Qingcheng Mountain and make people feel the urgency to find out. The main color of the entire mountain gate is dark brown, which looks solemn and heavy, while the carvings on the eaves are brightly colored, reflecting the Taoist concept of liking gods and advocating nature.
Qingcheng Mountain Gate
Sitting in the cable car, I saw the murals hidden in the mountains and forests. Arranged from top to bottom, the top one is a statue of Guanyin. I guess the second and third pictures depict mythological stories, because Taoism likes gods. The murals are colorful and vivid, making them extremely precious works of art. But why should it be "hidden" in the inaccessible mountains and forests? Because of "hiding", Qingcheng Mountain seems more secluded.
Murals Hidden in the Forest The ropeway is less than 1,000 meters away, and you can reach the upper station in a few minutes. Next, walk up the mountain to Laoxiaoding, the highest peak in Qingcheng.
In front of the mountain gate of Shangqing Palace, I saw a large screen wall. On the front of the screen, there was a big word "Tao" written on it, and on the back there were four words "Dao Wuwei". What exactly is "Tao"? More than two thousand years ago, I saw that the Zhou Dynasty was declining and the world was about to be in chaos, so he had no choice but to be born. At that time, there was a customs official named Yin Xi, who asked me about this question. I was very eloquent. He wrote a 5,000-word "Tao Te Ching" to answer him, and then led the green ox west out of Hangu Pass, never to be seen again. For more than two thousand years, people have been studying what "Tao" is, and everyone has a different understanding.
I believe that Tao is an eternal natural law that exists at all times and everywhere, involving all aspects. Only when all things in the universe follow the Tao can they be in order and prosper. If they go against the Tao, they will be punished and reap the consequences. Tao is embodied in people as virtue, which is what we often call conscience. This is the basic requirement for people to become human beings. The way is not to seek outsiders, but to seek others. We should pay more attention to things at the spiritual level within ourselves, rather than things outside ourselves.
"The Great Way of Inaction" is one of the core ideas of Laozi's "Tao Te Ching", and it is also Taoism's attitude and basic law towards society and life. Tao produces all things in the universe, including our life process, which should be natural and in line with the laws of nature. Therefore, we should imitate the way of nature in doing things, and do not act rashly, otherwise we will fail.
Go up the stone steps next to the screen wall for a few hundred meters to reach the Shangqing Palace. The palace gate is a stone arch with a gate tower, and the three characters "Shangqing Palace" on the plaque are neatly written. The couplets on both sides of the palace gate are thought-provoking: "Baicao has inherited the Yuan Dynasty today, and famous mountains have nurtured saints since ancient times." Literally speaking, the vegetation in Qingcheng Mountain is now contaminated by Taoist immortality. Since ancient times, this famous mountain has given birth to many people with profound Taoism. Yes, in ancient times many Taoist priests or literati chose this place to practice Taoism or live in seclusion, and became enlightened people. The legendary White Snake also practiced Taoism and became an immortal in Qingcheng Mountain, and became a good doctor who can help the world by hanging a pot.
There is also a couplet on the outside of the palace gate, which reads, "The best virtues are inactions and teachings without words, and great achievements can only be made if there is a lack of heaven." The first couplet comes from the "Tao Te Ching" "The sage does nothing and teaches without words." The second couplet of "A great success is like a lack of success" is the same as "A great skill is like a clumsiness", which reflects that what Taoism pursues is internal accumulation rather than external glitz. "With spirit, the grains are full, all things are alive, and the kings are convinced that the world is right." They are all discussing the great role of Tao. Nothing can survive without Tao. The "one" here refers to It is Tao. It is worthy of being a Taoist holy place, showing Taoist thoughts and concepts everywhere.
Shangqing Palace is one of the important palaces in Qingcheng Mountain. It was built in the Jin Dynasty and the existing palaces were rebuilt in the early Qing Dynasty. But it is not luxurious, it is simple and natural. The palace currently has the Tao Te Ching Hall, the San Qing Hall, the Jade Emperor Hall, and the Wen and Wu Hall. The palace houses the Tao Te Ching, the Yin Fu Jing, and the inscriptions of Zhang Daqian on nanmu boards.
On the west side outside the mountain gate, there are cliff inscriptions "The First Peak in Qingcheng" and "The Fifth Famous Mountain in the World". It is said that it is wonderful to view the holy lanterns in the Holy Lantern Pavilion of Shangqing Palace. Every summer when the sky is clear after rain, when night falls, you can see the bright spots in the mountains in the Holy Lantern Pavilion, which is confusing. Legend has it that the lantern was lit by the gods of Qingcheng Mountain to congratulate Zhang Tianshi, so it is called the holy lantern. In fact, this is because there is a lot of phosphorus in the mountains, and phosphorus has a low ignition point, so it is easy to spontaneously ignite when the temperature is high in summer. It's a pity that we didn't get to see this beautiful scenery this time.
Shangqing Palace
Laojun Pavilion is not far from Shangqing Palace. It is located at the top of the first peak in Qingcheng, also known as Laoxiaoding. It is 1,260 meters above sea level. When you reach the top of the mountain, you will feel the vastness of the world, as if you are far away from the world. In the distance, the mountains are rolling like blue waves, and the beautiful scenery of Minqiong Qing'e can be seen for hundreds of miles.
The loft has a tower-shaped appearance, 33 meters high, with nine floors, each floor has an octagonal shape, and the bottom is rounded, symbolizing the round sky and the round place.
When I walked into the attic, I saw a lotus-shaped statue of Lao Tzu enshrined in the main hall on the first floor. I felt a sense of respect and immediately knelt down with piety. I stood in silence in front of the statue of Lao Tzu for a long time. His peaceful demeanor made people feel very friendly. I wanted to offer him some incense, but the cheapest one cost 60 yuan. It was too commercial and insulted him. I can only remember it silently in my heart and try to figure out his thoughts. This is the best respect for him.
Laojun Pavilion Walk back from Laojun Pavilion to Shangqing Palace, and take the walking path on the left to go to Tianshi Cave. ?I met a young man from Shanghai on the road. He was about 1.8 meters tall, with a strong build. He was dressed in casual clothes and had a camera on his shoulder. He was a senior travel enthusiast at first glance. He said that he came from Mianyang, Sichuan on a group tour, and he didn’t want to go down the mountain on the ropeway with the group, but wanted to walk down the mountain. I said it just so happened that we could go together. He said he had been to Yingxiu, which was once the epicenter of the 512 earthquake and is now beautifully constructed. He said that he had been to Seda and said that the sky there was very blue, the red houses were beautiful, and there were also strange customs of sky burials. He also showed me the photos on his mobile phone.
The stone steps along this road are steep and narrow. It is especially difficult for the Shanghai boy’s big feet to walk on such a mountain road. Whenever I see that two-thirds of his feet are hanging on the stone steps. I was worried about him and reminded him to keep his feet sideways, which could also reduce the impact on the knee joint. He also kindly reminded me to pay attention to safety. Although we are strangers, under the same circumstances, we naturally convey each other's goodwill to each other. This is due to the kind nature of people.
Forest Walking Trail
We came to Chaoyang Cave. The palace is located under the rock wall of Laoxiaoding. It is built against the rock and next to a cave. The door opens to the east and the entrance to the cave is a suspended ancient building. The famous painter Mr. Xu Beihong once wrote a couplet for this cave: The ancient cave welcomes the light, and a phoenix comes from time to time on the cliff.
Chaoyang Cave After visiting Ningqiao, we went to the Patriarch Hall. The temple is located on Tiancang Peak of Qingcheng Mountain, with Xuanyuan Peak as its back and Baiyun River facing it. The palace is nestled among green pines and cypresses. Its construction style is similar to that of other palaces, but it makes people feel more mysterious and quiet. It is a good place for practicing Taoism. According to records, Taoist priests such as Xue Chang in the Tang Dynasty, Du Guangting in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, Zhang Yu and Fei Yuangui in the Song Dynasty lived in seclusion here. ?
The Patriarch’s Hall
After returning to the Patriarch’s Hall to visit Ningqiao, we continue to Tianshi Cave.
Along the way, the bluestone mountain road is winding and winding. The fir, nanmu and cypress trees on both sides are lush and leafy. Birds are singing on the branches. The sun is shining warmly from the forest with a few rays of sunshine. Just now The sweat that broke out was suddenly taken away by the cool breeze blowing from the forest. Pavilions made of branches, vines, and bark can be seen everywhere. They are made of natural materials without any artificial carvings and blend into the surrounding environment. As the old saying goes, "Forefathers plant trees, and future generations enjoy the shade." While we enjoy the blessings, we must also be grateful. ?
An unsophisticated pavilion
The purpose of walking down the mountain is to see Tianshi Cave, which is where Zhang Daoling, the founder of Taoism, preached at Jie Mao, and is also the main Taoist temple in Qingcheng Mountain. The Shanghai guy had to rush to the foot of the mountain to meet the tour group at the scheduled time, so we walked in a hurry and thought we missed Tianshi Cave. In fact, it is the location of the ancient Taoist temple we saw. Due to time constraints, we had no time to take a closer look.
Along the way of ancient Taoist temples, there are quite a few temples named after "three", such as "Sanqing", "Sanyuan", "Sanhuang", etc. Why does Taoism attach so much importance to numbers? "Three"? This is actually closely related to Laozi's cosmology "Tao creates one, one creates two, two generates three, and three generates all things." The status of "Tao" is supreme, so it is "one". There is "yin and yang" in it, so it is "two". The two qi of yin and yang merge with each other to form all things, so it is "three". This is the principle that "all things carry yin and hold yang, and bring qi into harmony".
The Shanghai guy and I finally arrived at the foot of the mountain at the scheduled time, and we said goodbye.
Recalling what I saw and heard when I went up and down the mountain, I thought of a question: What is the profound meaning of Mr. Yu Qiuyu’s inscription "Asking about Qingcheng Mountain" back then?
Qingcheng Mountain is a living Taoist museum. , is a famous mountain with the longest history and the most complete development of Taoism. The long history of Taoism has created the splendid Taoist culture of Qingcheng Mountain. If you want to ask, go to Qingcheng Mountain. Here, Laozi's "Tao Te Ching" thoughts can be well inherited and carried forward. Human beings follow the way of nature, live in harmony with nature, and thrive. In nearby Dujiangyan, humans have adapted to the ways of water, allowing water to better serve humans.
They correspond to each other and perfectly embody the role of Tao.
Today, Taoist ideas and concepts of health preservation and advocating nature are highly respected by modern urban people with a tight pace of life, and people who yearn for freedom and return to nature. More and more people go to Qingcheng Mountain to visit the ancient times and explore the essence of Taoist thought. There are more and more, and I am one of them.
Qingcheng Mountain is not enough to be seen in one visit, so I will make an appointment next time. I believe that this time is not my first time, but I also believe that this will not be the best time. People should have a grateful heart, so I decided to make a small trip out of this trip. The summary, I hope it can bring some help to you who are about to go there. Travel Guide
