Jiahu Site is located in Jiahu Village, Beiwudu Town, Wuyang County, Luohe City. It is more than 20 kilometers away from Wuyang County in the south and 3 kilometers away from Beiwudu Town in the east. It is an important cultural site in Peiligang. Since ancient times, it has a humid climate and rivers, making it an ideal place for human life and reproduction. The broad surface of Shahe River near the site rushes down from the northwest and flows east about 3 kilometers away from the site. Gray River meanders 4 kilometers west of the factory and flows into Shahe River at Beiwudu. The nearest to the site is the Nihe River, which is only 1 km away from the site. Niheyuan originated in Yexian County and flowed into Wuyang County 8 kilometers west of the site, running through the whole territory and merging into Lijiang River at the exit. There is a small lake between the Grey River and the Mud River, that is, Jia Hu, and Jiahu Village is on the north bank of Jiahu Lake. To the east of Jiahu Village is Nihewa flood detention area, with an area of about 103 square kilometers, and the lowest point in the central area is 63.8 meters above sea level. This flood storage and detention area mainly diverts the flood of Liusha River when the flood season comes, so as to protect the Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, 30 kilometers east of the site, from the threat of flood.
The site is located in the east of Jia Hu Village, with an irregular circular plane and a total area of 55,000 square meters. 1962, Zhi Zhu, a specialist in cultural relics in Wuyang County Cultural Center, was wrongly classified as a rightist and sent to work in Jiahu Village. Once when he was working, he found many pottery fragments at the bottom of the ditch in the east of the village, so he made a careful investigation of this area. He also found many human bones and stewed soil on abandoned shaft walls, cliffs and gullies, and also found traces of rice husk on the stewed soil. Braised clay usually refers to baked and vitrified clay blocks, mostly brick red, which are generally related to houses destroyed by fire. All these indicate that there may be village remains where primitive humans lived.
1In August, 975, there was a rainstorm in Wuyang County, and there was a rainstorm in Shahe River, Nihe River, Gray River and Lee Ha ... They burst their banks together, surging and rushing for thousands of miles. In this flood, Jiahu Village, like many other villages around it, became Wang Yang, which was devastated. After the flood receded, the villagers in Jia Hu United to rebuild their homes on the ruins. In order to prevent floods, they built a dam around the village to stop floods. The village dike runs through the north and south in the middle of the site. At that time, a large number of pottery, stone tools and human bones were dug up, which caused extremely serious damage to the site. 1978 In autumn, Jia Hu villagers built another village berm. The dike foundation is 14m wide, 2m ~ 3m high, and the top of the dike is 69m above sea level. In the process of taking soil to build a dike, a borrow pit with a depth of 1 m and a width of 26 to 42 m was formed on the east side of the dike, and the cultural layer in the pit was completely destroyed.
One day, Jia Jianguo, a primary school teacher in Jia Hu, led the students to level the land outside the dike and found that the ground was littered with stone axes, shovels and broken pottery pieces. Knowing that these are Neolithic relics, he collected them with the students and sent them to the county museum. Zhi Zhu is now the curator of the county museum. When he worked in Jiahu, he knew that there were ancient cultural sites there, and he always planned to visit them. At that time, the information of Peiligang site has been published, which is very famous and influential in academic circles at home and abroad. He compared the artifacts of the two places and found that the cultural characteristics of the two places were basically similar, so he confirmed that Jiahu site was an important cultural site in Peiligang. 1988, the people's government of Henan province identified Jiahu site as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.
