West Lake, located atNo. 1 Longjing Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, in the west of Hangzhou City, has a total scenic area of 49 square kilometers, a catchment area of 2 1.22 square kilometers and a lake surface area of 6.38 square kilometers.

Xiangxi, west and north are surrounded by mountains on three sides. Bai Causeway, Su Causeway, Yang Gongdi and Zhao Gong dikes in the lake divide the lake into several water surfaces. The outline of the West Lake is nearly oval, and the bottom of the lake is relatively flat. The natural surface water sources of the lake are Jinsha River, Longhong River, Chishan River (Yin Hui) and Changqiao River.

The West Lake is located on the edge of the southeastern hills of China, on the northern edge of subtropical zone. The annual average total solar radiation is between100-10 kcal/cm2, and the sunshine hours are 1800-2 100 hours.

2. gaoyou lake

Gaoyou lake, formerly known as Liangfan Lake, is also known as Xinkai Lake. It belongs to the Huaihe River Basin, where the Huaihe River enters the river and crosses the lake, and finally reaches the Yangtze River. It spans Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province and Tianchang City, Anhui Province, with a total water area of 760.67 square kilometers (flat water area), second only to Taihu Lake and Hongze Lake, and is the third largest lake in Jiangsu Province.

The general water level is 5.55 meters deep. It is a low-lying lake with wide water surface, beautiful environment and rich products. Gaoyou Lake hairy crabs and gaoyou lake lobsters are among the famous species, and the output of fish and shrimp is also very large. Gaoyou lake is the only channel for Tianchang Waterway to enter the river. Now turtles, shrimps, crabs and other aquatic products are abundant, and they are also famous for producing ducks.

3. Poyang Lake

Poyang Lake, formerly known as Peng Li, Peng Lize and Peng Ze, is located in the northern part of Jiangxi Province, in Jiujiang, Nanchang and Shangrao. It is the largest freshwater lake in China and the second largest lake in China, second only to Qinghai Lake. Poyang Lake is one of the main tributaries in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and it is also an important lake with water, throughput and seasonality in the Yangtze River basin.

The area of the lake is flat (14m ~15m) 3150 square kilometers, and advanced (20m)4 125 square kilometers. But at the low water level (12m), it is only 500 square kilometers. According to the hydrological data in 2008, when the water level of the lake is 22.59 meters, the lake area is 4070 square kilometers.

4. Dongting Lake

Dongting Lake, formerly known as Yunmeng, Jiujiang and Chonghu, is located on the south bank of Jingjiang River in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, spanning Yueyang, Miluo, Xiangyin, Wangcheng, Yiyang, Yuanjiang, Hanshou, Changde, Tianjin, Anxiang and Nanxian counties and cities. The name of Dongting Lake began in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, and it was named after Dongting Mountain (now Junshan Mountain) in the lake.

Dongting Lake receives water from Songzi, Taiping, ouchi and Diaoxian counties of the Yangtze River, connects with four small tributaries of Hunan, Zi, Yuan and Li in the south and west, and flows into the Yangtze River from Chenglingji, Yueyang City.

5. Hongze Lake

Hongze Lake, the fourth largest freshwater lake in China. Located in the lower reaches of Huaihe River in the west of Jiangsu, on the west side of the central part of Subei Plain, in Huai 'an and Suqian, with a geographical location of 33? 06′—33? 40', east longitude 1 18? 10′— 1 18? 52' is the junction of the middle and lower reaches of the Huaihe River.

Originally a shallow lake group, it was called Fuling Lake in ancient times. After the Han Dynasty, it was called Broken Kettle Pond, which was called Hongzepu in Sui Dynasty and Hongzehu in Tang Dynasty. After 1 128, the Yellow River south migrated through Surabaya to seize the lower reaches of the Huaihe River and enter the waters below Huaiyin. The Huaihe River lost its access to the sea and stored water in the east of Xuyi, and the original small lake was expanded into Hongze Lake.
