Zibo City is located in the central part of Shandong Province.
Zibo City, referred to as "Zi", is a regional central city in Shandong, a modern industrial city, and an important petrochemical base. Zibo is located in East China, central Shandong Province, bordering Linyi to the south, Dongying and Binzhou to the north, Weifang to the east, and Jinan to the west. It is located in the Yellow River Delta High Efficiency Ecological Economic Zone and the Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone, two major national strategic economic zones and The intersection of Jinan metropolitan area is one of the core cities of the Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration.
Zibo is narrow and long from north to south, with a maximum longitudinal distance of 151 kilometers from north to south and a maximum horizontal distance of 87 kilometers from east to west. It is located in the middle of Shandong Province, with the Taiyi Mountains to the south and the Jiuqu Yellow River to the north. Zibo City has jurisdiction over four municipal districts: Zichuan District, Boshan District, Zhangdian District and Zhoucun District.
The geology and landforms of Zibo:
Zibo City is bounded by the Qihe-Guangrao Fault, the Luxitai Anticline Luzhong Uplift Area to the south, and the Jiyang Depression Area to the north . The Shandong uplift area is composed of basement rock series and cap rock. The basement rock system is composed of the Taishan Rock Group and Neoarchean-Paleoproterozoic granite, and has experienced multiple stages of metamorphism.
The terrain of Zibo City is high in the south and low in the north. The south and east and west wings have undulating mountains. The central part is depressed and tilts to the north. The height difference between the north and the south is more than a thousand meters. With the Jiaoji Railway as the boundary, most of the south is mountainous and hilly, with karst landforms developed; most of the north is piedmont alluvial plains and yellow plains, with flat and fertile land. The Yellow River and Xiaoqing River flow through the north, and rivers originating in the city include Yi River, Zi River, Xiaofu River, etc.
