Shenzhen

Shenzhen, referred to as " "Shenzhen", also known as Pengcheng, is one of the four first-tier cities in China. It is a provincial municipality in Guangdong Province, a city under separate state planning, a sub-provincial city, a national regional central city, and a megacity. It is located in the southern part of Guangdong, on the east coast of the Pearl River Delta, separated from Hong Kong by water, bounded by Daya Bay and Dapeng Bay to the east, the Pearl River Estuary and Lingding Ocean to the west, connected to Hong Kong across the Shenzhen River to the south, and bordering Dongguan and Huizhou to the north.

Shenzhen is a national economic center and international city positioned by the State Council. It is also known as "Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen" together with Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The city has eight administrative districts: Luohu District, Longgang District, Longhua District, Futian District, Baoan District, Nanshan District, Yantian District and Pingshan District.

Shenzhen is the first special economic zone established by China’s reform and opening up. It is the window for China’s reform and opening up. In 2016, the economic added value of new business forms included in Shenzhen's GDP accounting was 156.553 billion yuan, accounting for 8.0% of GDP. Among them, the added value of the housing rental industry was 103.739 billion yuan. Shenzhen is also the only pilot city in the country for “R&D expenditures to be included in GDP”, conducting trial calculations on R&D expenditures being included in GDP accounting as a form of fixed capital.
