Where is Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery?
From the late 1950s to the early 1960s, on the disputed southern, eastern and western lines of the Sino-Indian border, India constantly escalated the border conflict, persisted in the policy of aggression and expansion, deliberately created border tensions and wantonly occupied Indian territory. On June 20th, Chinese border guards were forced to fight back in self-defense 1962 10. The Sino-Indian counterattack in self-defense was the first anti-aggression war in China after the founding of New China. Yecheng was the logistics support base of the western front battlefield at that time, and the western front headquarters was located in National Highway 2 19 Kangxiwa. With the heroic fighting of the frontline troops and the United support of the logistics army and people, the battle on the western front won in June of that year.
In order to permanently commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who died gloriously in the self-defense counterattack in the western section of the Sino-Indian border in June 1962, the Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery was established and put into use in Yecheng County and South Xinjiang Military Region in June 1965 by the decision of the Party Committee and People's Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
1995 was named as a patriotic education base by the Civil Affairs Department of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in April.
200 1 12 was named as the patriotic education base for young people by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Committee of the Communist Youth League.
In 2003, with the joint efforts of the higher authorities, the county party committee, the county people's government and the county civil affairs bureau, 280,000 yuan was invested to repair the martyrs cemetery, further improving the infrastructure conditions such as roads, greening, power supply and water supply in the park.
In 2008, he applied for the reconstruction and expansion project of Martyrs Cemetery.
In March 2009, the State Council approved Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery, a national key martyrs memorial building protection unit.
In 2009, the Civil Affairs Department of the Autonomous Region and the Regional Civil Affairs Bureau visited Yecheng County for many times to investigate the present situation of the martyrs cemetery, study and analyze the feasibility of the martyrs cemetery project and report it to the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
In April 2009, the project was officially approved and the preliminary work was officially carried out.
Construction started in April of 20 10 and was completed in April of 20 1 1 year.
Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery is located six kilometers east of the county seat. After the reconstruction and expansion, it is a national defense education base, a patriotic education demonstration base, a red tourism base and a national unity education base with beautiful scenery, prominent themes, reasonable layout, unique architecture and great momentum.
Martyrs Cemetery covers an area of 78 mu, with National Highway 3 15 in front. The main entrance of the cemetery faces south. On the top, it is engraved with 14 of Chairman Mao's poem "How great the sacrifice is, dare to teach the sun and the moon to change the sky", and on both sides, it is engraved with couplets "Remembering the revolutionary martyrs and inheriting the glorious tradition".
Inside the gate is a 2000-square-meter memorial square. A magnificent monument to revolutionary martyrs stands 50 meters away from the center of the main entrance, with a circumference of 19.62 meters and a height of 10.20 meters (for 1962, 10.20). It is square, and the front is engraved with "The people's heroes are immortal".
Behind the Martyrs Monument is the Memorial Hall. The main entrance is eight big pillars with a building area of 500 square meters. The left and right sides are engraved with the poem "The spirit of martyrs lives forever, and the heroism lives forever".
On both sides of the memorial hall are magnificent white marble memorial walls, which show the scenes of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang uniting as one, defending their country and resisting aggression, and the profile of Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery and the names of heroes are engraved on the back.
On both sides of the memorial wall are memorial corridors.
Behind the memorial hall is the hero's tomb, with three national martyrs and eight autonomous region-level martyrs buried in the front row. The whole martyrs' tomb covers an area of 8,500 square meters, where 48 martyrs were buried, 67 people died for the revolution, 59 people died in the line of duty and 35 people died in the line of duty, totaling 2 1 1 person. Among them, there are 7 first class, 2 second class 1 name and 2 third class. There are 4 1 person in party member and 36 people in party member. There are three regimental posts, five battalion posts, eleven company posts and three platoon posts. Others are class and soldiers. Among them, 1963 was awarded the honorary title of "war hero" by the Ministry of National Defense with three martyrs, namely: Luo Guangxie, ismail mohamed and Wang Zhongdian. Seventy-nine martyrs were buried at the location of the then front-line headquarters.
On March 2, 2009, the State Council approved Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery as a national key martyrs memorial building protection unit. The reconstruction and expansion project of Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery was officially approved in April 2009, with a total investment of 5.6 million yuan, 4.6 million yuan from the state and 1 10,000 yuan from the autonomous region. The main construction projects include: Martyrs Monument, Memorial Hall, Memorial Square, Memorial Corridor, Gate, Martyrs' Tomb, Memorial Wall and ancillary works. The Yecheng County Party Committee and County People's Government attached great importance to the construction of the National Martyrs Cemetery, and the main leaders of the county party Committee, government and regional civil affairs bureau visited the site for guidance many times. The reconstruction and expansion project of Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery has been supported by the troops stationed in Yecheng, such as Tank Regiment, Armed Forces Department, 29th Regiment, 18 Yard, Oil Depot, Ali Rear Office and General Warehouse.
Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery is the only martyrs cemetery in Xinjiang that defends and counterattacks. It is the base for organs, schools, enterprises and institutions, troops stationed in Ye Ye and troops stationed in Ye Ye to carry out patriotism, revolutionary heroism, oppose national zero doctrine, safeguard the reunification of the motherland and strengthen national unity education. During Tomb-Sweeping Day and the May 4th Youth Day, thousands of people went to the Martyrs Cemetery to pay their respects and receive education in national defense, patriotism and national unity. Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery has become a patriotic education base, a national defense education base, a national unity education base and a red tourism education base in southern Xinjiang, and has long received peace-loving people at home and abroad. Yecheng Martyrs Cemetery has played an extremely important role in praising revolutionary martyrs, educating people and teenagers on revolutionary traditions, carrying out national defense education and patriotism education, and promoting the construction of socialist spiritual civilization.
