It is the thirteenth independent observation tower in the world and a member of the World Alliance of Tall Towers

. About 1 million tourists visit here every year.

The Sky Tower is built with 15,000 cubic meters of concrete and 2,660 tons of strong steel. The foundation is 15 meters deep and weighs 21 million kilograms. The Sky Tower is highly secure and can withstand strong winds of 200 kilometers per hour, an earthquake of magnitude 7 on the Richter scale 40 kilometers away, and will not fall down even if it is an earthquake of magnitude 8 on the Richter scale 20 kilometers away. There are multi-layered observation decks and high-powered telescopes on the tower at 190 meters, which can facilitate visitors to enjoy the panoramic view of Auckland. Visitors can also muster the courage to stand on the glass floor and admire the scenery below their feet. Looking down, I saw the bustling urban streets at my feet. Auckland Sky City’s promise to you is that no matter how many times you come, Sky City will definitely bring you a wonderful and unforgettable travel experience every time. The Sky Tower has Sky jump and Sky walk. There are two floors of restaurants on the upper part of the Sky Tower. The first floor is "Orbit", which is equipped with rotating seats that rotate 360 ??degrees every hour [4]. The other level is the cafe level and has two observation decks (including part of the glass floor). [4] Attracting an average of 1,450 tourists daily (more than 500,000 people annually). [5]

The tower also features a SkyJump, a 192-meter [6] "fan descender" jump (somewhere between high-altitude bouncing [6] that takes off from the observation deck) Also known as the experience between bungee jumping and low-altitude bouncing), it can reach 85 kilometers per hour (53 meters per second). SkyBounce is controlled by guide cables to prevent the bouncer from crashing into the tower during gusts of wind. [7] Climbing activities within the antenna pole section (Template:Convert/LoffAonD/Soff height) are also suitable for tour groups. [6]

In addition to entertainment, the tower is used for communications and broadcasting. Auckland Peering Exchange (APE) is located on the 48th floor. Several radio broadcasting companies have set up transmitting stations and share antenna systems. Television company Canwest (which operates TV3 and C4 channels) has a secondary transmitter on the tower, with its main transmitter in Waiatarua. The Sky Tower is constructed of high-performance reinforced concrete. Its 12-meter (39-foot) axis, which includes three lifts and an emergency staircase, is supported by eight pillars and is based on 16 foundation piles drilled to a depth of 12 m (39 ft) into the local sandstone. [12][1] The main shaft is constructed with self-elevating formwork. [1]

The upper floors are constructed of composite materials, structural steel, precast concrete and reinforced concrete[1], while the observation deck is clad in aluminized blue/green reflective glass. The steel frame supports the upper section of the antenna mast. During construction, 15,000 cubic meters (20,000 cubic yards) of concrete, 2,000 metric tons (2,200 short tons) of rebar and 660 metric tons (730 short tons) of structural steel were used. The mast itself weighs over 170 metric tons (190 short tons). [1][14] Because the frame is too heavy, it is difficult for the helicopter to load it, so it must be lifted by a large crane mounted on the tower. Later, another small crane was assembled on the upper part of the Sky Tower to dismantle the large crane. The small crane is then dismantled into smaller components and transported by elevator. [1] There are three transparent glass high-speed elevators inside the Sky Tower, which can carry 255 people every 15 minutes. The high-speed elevators rise at a speed of 18 kilometers per hour. After 40 seconds, you can look down on the entire Auckland city like an angel.

You can also test your physical strength and perseverance and challenge the 1,267 steps of the Sky Tower. Starting from the bottom of the Sky Tower, it takes 29 minutes to climb up to the Sky Deck at a speed of four kilometers per hour. Auckland's Sky Tower once held a stair-climbing competition, with one competitor setting an astonishing record of climbing more than 1,000 steps in just 5 minutes and 17 seconds. Sky City integrates accommodation, catering, culture, and entertainment, with multiple conference halls and a 700-seat theater. There are numerous opera performances, music performances or drama performances throughout the year. There are also 3 casinos that provide a large number of slot machines, blackjack, baccarat and other games. In terms of food, there are more than 10 Chinese and Western restaurants and bars with live bands. The revolving restaurant located at a height of 190 meters is not to be missed. It is most famous for its seafood dishes and more than 400 kinds of wine. Enjoying the delicious food while admiring the night view is really enjoyable.
