Fishery resources of Hexi Reservoir

When the Fisheries Station of the Changxing County Agricultural Bureau went to Hexi Reservoir for investigation, they discovered a rare freshwater fish, the horsemouth, and had formed a certain population. Opsariicjthys bidens, belongs to the order Cypriniformes, Cyprinidae, Yarosinae, Genus Opsariiformis, commonly known as peach blossom fish. It is a stream fish and likes to live in water bodies with low water temperature, currents and aquatic plants. The middle and upper layers have higher requirements for water quality, requiring clear water and high dissolved oxygen.

Although horsemouth are widely distributed in my country, ranging from Heilongjiang in the north to Hainan in the south, they are rarely found in Changxing County in recent years. The main reason is that the streams are polluted by industrial sewage, pesticides and domestic pollution. Due to the impact of sewage and other impacts, the ecology has been damaged, resulting in the decline or disappearance of various fishery resources. In recent years, Changxing County has actively promoted the construction of an ecological county. The ecological environment has been increasingly improved, the water quality of Hexi Reservoir and upstream water sources has been significantly improved, and fishery resources have been significantly restored.
