History of Macau Tower

Ho Hong-sun, Managing Director of Macau Tourism and Entertainment Co., Ltd., visited Auckland, the former capital of New Zealand, in the 1990s and was deeply impressed by the city's Sky Tower. After returning to Macau, he decided to build a similar tower in Macau, so he invited the famous New Zealand architect Gordon Moller to design it. The construction project of Macau Tower started in 1998 and was officially opened on December 19, 2001.

Since June 2001, the Macau Tower has cooperated with AJ Hackett to launch the world's highest sky jump (SKYJUMP), setting a record for the tourist tower as "the world's highest commercial deceleration drop". A Guinness World Record. On December 17, 2006, AJ Hackett launched the world's highest commercial bungee jump at the Macau Tower, setting the record for both "the highest bungee jump from a building" and "the world's highest commercial bungee jumping facility" for the tourist tower. Two Guinness World Records. Participants jump from a height of 233 meters in just 20 seconds at a speed of 75 kilometers per hour. They can experience the leap in the air for themselves, which is very exciting. The jumper must first put on a special flight suit, and the flight suit will be connected to three steel wires that can withstand 3,000 kilograms of tension. It can still maintain a smooth and stable flight process even in strong winds; the landing process is not controlled by human hands or engines. , when it is about 10 meters away from the ground, the steel wire will turn into the DOWNGEAR mode, allowing the jumper to land easily without rebounding or turning the body upside down, and can still feel the excitement of falling quickly.
