Ruijin Luohan Rock, a miracle of nature, one of the sixteen famous mountains in Jiangxi

Luohan Rock is located to the south of Chenshi Mountain in Rentian Town, 20 kilometers north of Ruijin City, Jiangxi Province. The scenic area covers an area of ??more than 10 square kilometers. The transportation is convenient, and there is a road that can go directly to the foot of the mountain. Luohanyan is one of the 16 famous mountains in Jiangxi. It is the first batch of provincial scenic spots in the province and was approved as a provincial forest park in 1993. In January 2018, it was rated as a 4A tourist attraction.

According to legend, Chen Baxian, Emperor Chen Wu of the Southern Dynasty (557-559), once stationed troops here, so the mountain was originally named Chenshi Mountain. There is a cave in the mountain that can accommodate a thousand people. According to legend, it was the place where the eminent monk Fuhu preached and preached. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, some monks "used the rock as a house and the rock as a shelter." He built a monastery here and dug into the ground to obtain eighteen stone arhats. From then on, people renamed Chenshi Mountain Luohan Rock.

Driving to Luohanyan Scenic Area and stepping into the gate of the scenic area, you are faced with two huge rocks about 100 meters high, less than one meter apart, with gaps like knives and axes. This is the Sword Testing Rock. There is a poem from the ancients that says, "I don't know who the divine general was, but his long sword split cliffs better than his craftsmanship." According to legend, it was caused by Emperor Chen Wu trying his sword.

Along the way up, we first go to the Back Rock. The local saying goes that when you visit here, people who are tired of walking can rest here. Those with back pain can stop their back pain by placing some branches on the back rock wall.

In front of the left side of the support rock, there is a towering stone peak, shaped like a candle. There is a thousand-year-old maple tree on the top of the peak. In autumn, the maple leaves are like fire, swaying in the wind, flickering bright and dark, just like the wick of a candle. Hence the name Candle Peak. This peak is surrounded by cliffs and is not connected to other peaks. It is said that only a 60-year-old old herb collector has been up there so far, and you can still see the steel drills he drove in during his climb.

Passing through the Candle Peak Gorge and entering the front mountain stream, on the way to Qianzhang Cliff, there is a place called Gugui Rock. From a distance, the peak looks like a scene of a magical turtle emerging from the water. The turtle was fascinated by the beautiful scenery of the mountain stream and couldn't wait to climb out of the water. After passing Suoyun Bridge, at the Luohan Rock at the foot of Qianzhang Cliff, there is Haiyun Temple. With its red walls and shining glazed tiles, it is a majestic and mysterious place of Buddhist worship. According to records, Haiyun Temple was built in the mid-Song Dynasty. In 1985, Luohan Rock was listed as a provincial scenic spot, and Haiyun Temple was moved to the upper right side of Luohan Rock. In October 1998, the Main Hall was completed. The name plaque of "Haiyun Temple" was inscribed by Zhao Puchu, the former president of the Buddhist Association of China.

In front of the Thousand People Cave in Luohan Rock, there are two clear springs flowing down. One stream is like white silk hanging in the air, free and elegant, like a horse's tail, so it is called horse tail water; the other stream is like pearls scattered on the ground, like water seeping out of a rice sieve, so it is called "rice sieve water". The rocks that have been soaked by the water for a long time are covered with green moss. The breeze blows, and it is a beautiful scenery.

Walking along the Danbi Rock and climbing the Shishan Mountain, there are ancient villages built according to the caves. There is a gate built in front of Dazhai, namely Jianmen, which allows only one person to enter and exit. There are Jiuqu Cave, three-story platform, stone drum, stone window, stone ladder, etc. in the village. Legend has it that this area was the place where Liang and Chen fought in the Southern Dynasties, and it was also the base camp of Xu Shengke, the local peasant rebel leader in the early Qing Dynasty, who "led the masses and promoted rebellion".

Qianzhang Cliff, with a peak height of more than 400 meters, is a typical Danxia landform and cannot be climbed even by apes. There are several piles of mounds in front of the cliff, which are said to be where Xu Shengke's bones were buried. Going east from Jianmen, there is a sliver of sky. Continuing forward, there is a small stream passing through the mountain, and the water merges into a deep pool of three to four meters in length and width, which is Longtan. Tracing back to the source of Longtan, there is another pool with a small mouth, a big and round belly, named "Youluo Pool". There is a circular stone hole above the pool, which leads directly to the top of the mountain, called the "Monkey Peeping Well".

The main peak of Luohan Rock is 479.2 meters above sea level. It is small at the top and large at the bottom. The upper part is the head of Arhat, and the rock base part below is like the body of Arhat sitting cross-legged. Standing here and looking around, you can see thousands of mountains, dense forests, majestic peaks, meandering water at the foot of the mountains, sparkling like jade belts, quiet lake water, flowing through the mountains, flowing through the years, imprinting the endless changes of Luohan Rock , as if telling tourists the endless tenderness of Luohan Rock.
