Why is Wulanchabu called Jining

Wulanchabu is not called Jining. Wulanchabu is a prefecture-level city in Inner Mongolia, and Jining District is the seat of Wulanchabu municipal government. This is the same as Hulunbeier City and Hailar District. They are subordinate. As for the origin of the name "Jining", it is also related to the construction of the Jing-Sui railway line 100 years ago.

Wulanchabu is Mongolian, which means "Red Mountain Pass". It used to be called Wulanchabu League. It is one of Inner Mongolia 12 alliance cities and belongs to prefecture-level city administrative region. At that time, its union administrative office was in Jining city. Later, the League was withdrawn to set up a city, and the Wulanchabu League was renamed as "Wulanchabu City".

Jining City has become a "Jining District" and is the seat of Wulanchabu City. The auspicious name "Jining" is also related to the first railway designed and built by China people.

Some tourists nicknamed it "Beijing Seventh Ring Road", indicating that it is very close to Beijing. Others said that "one step west of Beijing is Wulanchabu".
