There are only two 5A-level scenic spots in Nanjing, namely, the Qinhuai River Scenic Belt of Confucius Temple and Nanjing Zhongshan Scenic Area.

1. Qinhuai Scenic Belt of Confucius Temple: The Qinhuai Scenic Belt of Confucius Temple is a national AAAAA-level tourist area, which integrates natural scenery, landscape gardens, temple schools, street houses and local customs. The scenic spot takes the ancient buildings of Confucius Temple as the core and Qinhuai River as the axis, starting from Dongshuiguan Park in the east and reaching Xishuiguan Park (Shuiximen) in the west. Confucius Temple is located in Gong Yuan Street, north bank of Qinhuai River, Qinhuai District, Nanjing. It is the first national university in China and one of the four Confucian temples in China, dedicated to Confucius. Confucius Temple is not only the cultural and educational center of Nanjing in Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also the highest cultural and educational complex in southeast provinces. Now it is an important part of the Confucius Temple-Qinhuai Scenic Belt.

2. Nanjing Zhongshan Scenic Area: Although Zhongshan Scenic Area is also called Dongjiao Scenic Area, it is close to the city center, and Nanjing people prefer to call it Purple Mountain. Zhongshan is 448.9 meters above sea level. There are three main scenic spots on the mountain: Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Mausoleum and Linggu Temple. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and Ming Tombs are the must-see attractions in Nanjing. Tickets are needed for Zhongshan Scenic Area, but not for Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum Scenic Area.
