Experience of visiting Xiamen Garden Expo Park

The 6th China International Garden and Flower Expo was held in Xiamen in September 2007. The venue was chosen in Jeju Island, Jimei, the hometown of Mr. Chen Jiageng, the "overseas Chinese flag". On June 29th, 2007, 10, a group of 20 people from the design institute of our institute had the honor to visit and study in Xiamen Garden Expo Park. Although the time is short, they have broadened their horizons and increased their knowledge.

The total planned area of the Garden Expo Park is 6.76 square kilometers, of which the land area is 3.03 square kilometers. It mainly includes the main exhibition area of Garden Expo Park, ecological wetland park, waterscape and water sports, hot spring resort and other commercial supporting facilities. The overall layout of the Garden Expo Park is in the form of peninsula and island, consisting of nine islands and two peninsulas. Five of them are garden islands and four small islands are ecological landscape islands. On this basis, the natural native island in the east, Xinglin Garden in the west, Education Park in the middle, Stone Culture Park and Forest Leisure Park in the north will be planned and built by stages to form a large green space similar to Central Park.

This time, we mainly visited Yuanbo Island (main island), Minnan Culture Island (sub-island) and Yuan Bo Avenue which runs through the two islands. Other islands are still under construction in stages and are not open to the public. The main island covers an area of 76 hectares, including four major garden schools in China (Jiangnan Park, North Park, Lingnan Park and National Style Park), Modern Park, International Park, Landscape Architect Park and Palace X Park. Walking into the Garden Expo Park, you can clearly feel the different styles and charms of garden art in different places, and appreciate the different aesthetic feelings of garden art at home and abroad. Let me introduce the main exhibition areas respectively.

1, Garden Avenue: The gate of the Garden Expo Park takes Xiamen bird egret as the prototype, shaping the beautiful shape of "egret spreading its wings", which is very dynamic and has local characteristics. Garden Expo Road is 30-50 meters wide, with a total length of about 2 100 meters. It has multiple functions such as landscape transportation and leisure. It is the main axis of Garden Expo Park and forms a spatial main axis running through the north and south. With the theme of "Flower Full Moon", the starting point is "Huamen", and a large landscape building with an outer diameter of 36 meters is placed corresponding to the end point, named "Moon Halo". The design concept comes from the sunny and rainy days of the moon. Facing the distant treasure island of Taiwan Province Province, it reminds people of the poem "When will the bright moon be full, and the horizon will be * *", and looks forward to the unity and unity of the Chinese nation. In addition, the whole Garden Avenue seems to be a sea of flowers, a world of flowers, and the use of flower borders has fully explained the theme of "harmony between man and nature" in the Garden Expo. Along the way, a small space will be opened for people to rest and enjoy the scenery, and sculptures, benches and flower stands will be placed, which fully embodies the people-oriented design concept.

2. Jiangnan Park: I visited the *** 10 urban exhibition garden represented by Nanjing, Chengdu and Jinan, and adopted the design method of Jiangnan garden concept, with simple layout, light and concise shape, elegant color and soft outline. The style of "white walls and tiles" showed the characteristics of Jiangnan water town and the charm of ancient towns. The buildings along the river and along the street form the landscape of Jiangnan water town with small bridges and flowing water.

3. Northern Gardens: The six major urban gardens, represented by Beijing, Tianjin and Henan, make full use of the landscape control of mountains and closely follow the essence of the artistic conception of northern gardens represented by "Royal Gardens". The application of garden elements such as Fangshan Stone, Diaohuamen and White marble arch bridge highlights the strict visual control axis and solemn style of the royal garden, and the solemn and heavy architecture is the distinctive feature of this garden.

4. National Customs Garden: Focusing on a national customs square, highlighting the theme of great national unity and integration, and integrating and organizing distinctive national customs exhibition areas. Tibet, Yunnan, Mongolia, Shihezi, Guiyang, Hohhot and other cities participated in the exhibition, and the regional characteristics of ethnic minorities were distinct, as if they were there.

5. Modern Park: * * Visited 9 urban exhibition gardens, including Shanghai Garden, Chongqing Garden, Yantai "Scenic Garden", Hefei "Harmonious Garden" and Weihai Garden. With the theme of "the movement of the times", the whole park is simple and generous in design, and uses all kinds of new materials and technologies to create a rich garden space, which is refreshing.

6. International parks: including parks in 24 countries including Australia, Japan, Egypt, Mexico, the United States and Singapore. Show the garden features and architectural styles around the world. For example, the "lion's body and fishtail" sculpture in Singapore, the "leopard chasing antelope" sculpture in the African grassland and the "windmill" in the Netherlands all reflect the regional characteristics of various countries.

7. Landscape Architects' Garden: I visited the garden works of eight international young landscape architects, including Wang Hao, Zhu Jianning, Yu, and so on, which gave me the deepest experience that they used the language of poetry, flexibly used space art, made people think, and created poetic and picturesque ideas that were in line with the original characteristics of the site. At the same time, they especially advocated simplicity and economy, and abandoned the disadvantages of building large buildings in the garden and building gardens for landscaping.

8. Fujian-Taiwan Garden: It is a place that reflects the culture of Fujian and Taiwan, and it is the * * * exhibition area of the host Fujian and the surrounding Taiwan Province Provincial Garden. It is intended to embody the idea that the mainland and Taiwan Province Province have the same roots and belong to the same China.

Through the intense tour, I think the following points are deeply touched:

1, the treatment of the garden in the garden.

The North Garden, Jiangnan Garden, Lingnan Garden, National Customs Garden, Modern Garden, International Garden and Landscape Garden, which are respectively arranged on the main island of the Garden Expo Park, are located in different directions of the main island, and are inseparable from the whole Garden Expo Park but form their own system, including the design and application of garden elements such as road system, topography, water, plants and buildings, which reflect different regional characteristics and are closely connected with the Garden Avenue to form a complete and orderly tour system.

2. The proportion and scale are reasonable and pleasant.

As an important place for assembly and celebration, Yuan Bo Square should not only meet the functional requirements, but also meet the requirements of landscape scale and scale. In terms of design techniques, the designer adopted the method of "scale change", and changed the sense of scale of the square with exaggerated scales through giant flowerpots. The flower bed with a width of 60 cm at the top and the flowerpot with a height of nearly 3 meters are in harmony with the spacious Yuan Bo Square. In other small parks, you will find many small spaces that are in harmony with the scale of human activities, such as small flower stands and pavilions.

3. The design technique is flexible and changeable, giving full play to the designer's imagination.

For example, the design theme of Yuan Bo Square is "Heron Dance Rhyme", and the ground pavement implies the keys in the form of deep and shallow bands. The "Egret" modeling lights are like a group of egrets flying to the water, which embodies the reputation of Xiamen as a piano island and an heron city. Take the door frame inspired by "Egrets Spread their Wings" as the entrance sign; The bench in the shape of Qingdao beer bottle designed by Qingdao Garden is so natural and appropriate that people have to admire the designer's imagination.

4. The spatial layout is cohesive and expansive, and the space is constantly divided and transformed, forming many small environments with rich landscapes.

What impressed me the most here is the use of landscape walls, which are woven with plant materials, carved with metal reliefs, painted with oil paintings, and painted with white walls and tiles in the south of the Yangtze River. The shapes and sizes are different, and the pictures are beautiful and covered with flower window frames. Here, the use of framing and borrowing scenery has been brought into full play, forming an artistic effect of mutual penetration of space and mutual borrowing of scenery by mountains and rivers. In the narrow space, people feel that "the mountains are close at hand", "the scenery is different", "the flowers are blooming, and the village is bright", which arouses tourists' desire to explore the fragrance further.

5. Pay attention to local culture, explore historical connotation and create artistic conception, which has distinctive local characteristics.

Whether it is a modern park, a Jiangnan park, an international park or a northern park, there is a common place with strong local characteristics and a public theme park with obvious orientation. Each park shows us the specific landscapes of different countries and cities that are different from other cities and countries. In particular, domestic exhibition gardens have fully demonstrated the design concept of interpreting the traditional spirit by modern means. Its essence comes from the traditional cultural gardens in China, expressing feelings with objects and creating artistic conception. Literature, calligraphy and painting are combined with gardening art to set off the atmosphere.

6. Adopt new materials, new technologies, rainwater collection and energy development.

Ecological construction methods and environmental protection materials are applied in the park, such as permeable pavement for large square roads, greening of building roofs as insulation layer, and environmental protection materials for garbage sorting and recycling. The rainwater collection system runs through the whole garden, which greatly saves water resources. Windmill is not only a beautiful scenery on Garden Avenue, but also wind power generation provides power for garden lighting system.

In a word, the design of each park in the Garden Expo Park is a masterpiece of traditional gardens in China, which is the inheritance and development of traditional gardens. Through learning, we have a deeper understanding of gardens and a better understanding of the application of various design techniques, which is helpful for us to explore the development direction of modern gardens. These are some of my experiences after visiting the Learning Garden Expo Park. I hope to communicate with you and make progress together.
