Zuzhai Village is the famous hometown of overseas Chinese and the hometown of watchtowers. It is well-known in Jiangmen and is a tourist attraction in itself. However, the recent renovation of the village has produced a large amount of abandoned construction waste, and red bricks and granite are everywhere. So the design team had an idea and simply used local materials. During the renovation process, in order to continue the context of the original place, respect the wishes of the local villagers, and retain the memory of the original toilet, the designer designed the design through two major methods: reconstruction of the original site and utilization of old items. They collected and cleaned old bricks and tiles, and then used these old items to build hollow brick walls, mixing and building a novel and stylish new toilet.

The entire toilet is in the shape of a semicircle, with an open and wide viewing platform above it. When you walk to the viewing platform, you can see the old watchtower buildings in the village, which is a place where tourists are concentrated.

Below the observation deck is a hollow wall made of steel grids and discarded bricks or porcelain bottles. These old objects and advanced design concepts complement each other, bringing a trendy atmosphere to the ancestral village. The hollow architectural form can not only reduce the weight of the wall, but also make the visual effect more transparent and brighter. These old objects carry the past memories of the entire site and are placed in new buildings in fragmented form, allowing local villagers to find their daily routine of the old days in these new buildings.

Taking a closer look, the wall of the toilet shows the results of the past three cleans and demolitions. 63 streets and lanes were cleaned, 480 tons of garbage, 3 rivers with an area of ??27 cubic meters were dredged, and the three lines were rectified. There were 12 random cases, etc., and the design concept of this toilet was also explained. The original large mango tree is still preserved next to the toilet.
