Millennium Ancient County

Dancheng is a Millennium Ancient County with profound connotations.

Dancheng has a long history, belonging to Chu and Han in the late Warring States period, with a history of more than 2, years.

The cultural background is profound. In the Spring and Autumn Period, Laozi held a furnace to make an alchemy on the bank of Mingshui. After Dan became an alchemist, he wrote the Tao Te Ching, which gave him the title of "Dan Cheng". Today, there are still ruins of laojunmiao and an alchemy furnace on the north bank of Mingshui River. During the Warring States Period, Wang Wei (pronounced chan, known as the Prince), a strategist, went to the Mianhe Bridge to take shelter from the wind. When he met two old men, he played chess and made an alchemy. After Dan became immortal, the prince became immortal. Therefore, Dancheng was also called "Fairy City", and now there is a "Prince Bridge" on the Mianhe River.

There is Duanzhai site 5 kilometers south of the county seat, which belongs to Dawenkou culture in the early stage and Longshan culture in the middle and late stage, with a large number of pottery unearthed; Ten kilometers east of the city, there is a historical site in Ningping. In 26 AD, Liu Xiu, Emperor Guangwu of the Han Dynasty, named Liu Boji as Ningping princess royal, and the old city of Ningping was the fief. during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, Dancheng was a revolutionary holy land. Anti-Japanese generals Peng Xuefeng, Zhang Aiping, Wei Fenglou and Li Zimu all carried out revolutionary work in Dancheng, and there are the memorial hall for the training and consolidation of the guerrilla detachment of the New Fourth Army in Peng Xuefeng, the monument of the Red Army and the memorial pavilion of Zhang Youming.
