How to apply for a British visa in Guangzhou

Chinese students who are about to enroll in the autumn of 2017 should apply for a British visa in advance to avoid delaying their enrollment! So, how to apply for a British visa in Guangzhou? The application process is as follows:

1. Online application

Please visit www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa to submit the visa application form online, pay the medical surcharge (if applicable) and the visa application fee and Make an appointment at the Visa Application Center.

After completing the online application process, you will receive an email containing your application number (the "GWF Reference Number").

Please record this number.

1.1 Fill out the visa application form online

After you complete the online application, you need to print the application form and sign it.

Once the visa application form is submitted, it cannot be modified.

Please check the form before submitting to ensure that the information filled in is correct.

If you cannot use a printer when filling out the form, you can log in and print the application form later.

1.2 Make an Appointment at the Visa Application Center

You need to make an appointment online for the date and time to go to the Visa Application Center.

If you are a member of an ADS tour group or a winter/summer camp group, your agent will contact the Visa Application Center to arrange a group appointment.

Your appointment date must be within 90 days of completing and submitting the online application form.

1.3 Pay the visa application fee online

You must use RMB to pay the visa application fee online through VISA or Mastercard credit or debit card.

After completing your online payment, you will receive a confirmation email from our payment provider, WorldPay.

If you wish to cancel your visa and receive a refund, please use our refund request form.

If biometric information has been submitted and/or processing of your application has begun, the visa application fee will not be refunded.

1.4 Pay the Health Surcharge online

Non-EEA citizens who apply to work, study or reunite with their families in the UK for more than 6 months need to pay the Health Surcharge.

Applicants who pay the surcharge can enjoy the same National Health Service (NHS) as British permanent residents.

The medical surcharge is £200 per year, and £150 per year for students. Accompanying family members usually need to pay the same fee as the main applicant.

Visa applicants are required to pay in advance a surcharge covering the entire validity period of the UK visa.

The medical surcharge is a mandatory requirement and applicants must pay the surcharge online before submitting their visa application.

For applicants who submit applications outside the UK, if their visa application is refused or the administrative review is rejected, the medical surcharge paid will be automatically refunded.

You can get free national medical services and do not need to pay a medical surcharge if you meet the following conditions:

Second-tier intra-company transfer applicant or family member;

Children under the age of 18 who are looked after by local authorities;

Families of members of the British armed forces;

Families of members of the armed forces of other countries who are not subject to immigration controls;
