Advantages of Datong becoming a third-tier city

The coal here is shipped to the whole country, with a coal reserve of 37.6 billion tons. It is one of the largest coal energy bases in China and a national heavy chemical energy base. Surprisingly, the economic aggregate here is not high, only 1000 billion, and the per capita GDP is 32,000, which is lower than the provincial average. However, it is proud of its excellent ecological environment. In 20 17 years, the number of days with good air reached 304 days, which was equivalent to the environmental quality in coastal areas.

Besides coal, Datong is rich in tourism resources. There are two world-famous scenic spots here-Yungang Grottoes and Mount Hengshan Hanging Temple, as well as many antique thousand-year-old temples. However, the city's tourism needs to be tapped. Last year, the total tourism revenue was only 48.3 billion yuan, which is far from a big tourist city like Jinzhong. For example, Yungang Grottoes can be made into internationally famous scenic spots like Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang. With great tourism potential and complementary transportation and energy advantages, Datong may be promoted to the third line.
