Introduction to Macheng Dujuan Cultural Tourism Festival
From October 26 to 28, 2007, forestry experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences came to Macheng for on-the-spot investigation, demonstration, sampling and identification, and solemnly announced that an original ecological community of ancient rhododendrons with a growth cycle of millions of years was discovered in Macheng. Its large area, long age and well-preserved state are unique in the country and rare in the world, and are of great development value. After repeated field surveys and appraisals by experts from the Wuhan Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University, Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other units, the total area of ??ancient rhododendrons in Macheng City reached more than 1 million acres, of which the contiguous area of ??Guifeng Mountain Scenic Area reached more than 100,000 acres.
