In 2005, in chinese national geography magazine's selection of "the most beautiful place in China", Zhou Xiaolin recommended Danba to compete for "the most beautiful place in China" without the recommendation of Sichuan media, which made Danba shortlisted and eventually became the first of the six most beautiful rural ancient towns in China.
