What are the fun places to visit in Dandong?

Interesting tourist attractions in Dandong include the Yalu River, Jinjiangshan Park, Hushan Great Wall, Memorial Hall to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, and Broken Bridge.

1. Yalu River

The Yalu River was originally an inland river in China and is now the boundary river between China and North Korea. The North Korean islands in the river, Silk Island and Xindao, are bordering mainland China. At present, the estuary is used by both parties.

The Yalu River originates from the southern foothills of Changbai Mountain in Jilin Province. Its upper reaches were formerly known as Jianchuangou. The flow direction first flows southward at the source stage, then turns northwest after passing through Changbai Korean Autonomous County, and then turns southwestward through Linjiang City.

2. Jinjiangshan Park

The beautiful Jinjiangshan Park is the largest comprehensive park in Dandong. It is located on the southern slope of Jinjiang Mountain in the north of the city, 1.8 kilometers away from the bank of the Yalu River in the south. Jinjiangshan Park is covered with greenery and luxuriant flowers. It is one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. It is known as "the first of the eight scenic spots in Northeast China".

Jinjiang Pavilion, the highest point in the park, has always been an ideal place for tourists from Dandong to climb. Standing on the railing and looking into the distance, the Yalu River is like a belt, the mountains are like a screen, and the scenery of China and North Korea is unobstructed.

3. Hushan Great Wall

Hushan Great Wall is located on the bank of the Yalu River, 15 kilometers east of Dandong City. It is an important scenic spot in the national Yalu River Scenic Area, across the river from North Korea. Yu Chidao and the ancient city of Yiju face each other. It is an excellent tourist destination.

The Great Wall of Ming Dynasty looks like a giant dragon lying on the mountain. Binjiang Road at the foot of the mountain is connected to National Highway 201. Bangshantai on the riverside is the eastern starting point of the Great Wall. Near Hushan are the ruins of Xi'an Ping County, a city in the Han Dynasty, and battlefield ruins of the Sino-Japanese War of Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War. Hushan covers an area of ??four square kilometers and the main peak is 146.3m high.

4. Memorial Hall to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea

The Memorial Hall to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea is located near Taoyuan Street, Zhenxing District, Dandong City, Liaoning Province. It is located on the beautiful Yinghua Mountain in the north of the city center. It is a tower-style building complex. The museum is the only thematic memorial hall in China that comprehensively reflects the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. The memorial hall was built in October 1958. On July 27, 1993, the new museum was completed and officially opened.

5. Yalu River Broken Bridge

The Yalu River Broken Bridge is located on the bank of the Yalu River on Jiang'an Road, Zhenxing District, Dandong City, Liaoning Province, China. It is the remaining part of the original Yalu River Bridge after it was bombed. The Yalu River Broken Bridge is the first of many bridges on the Yalu River. Construction started in May 1909 and was completed in October 1911.

It was built by the Railway Bureau of the Japanese-Korean Governor-General's Office at that time. In 2006, it was approved by the State Council as the sixth batch of key cultural relics protection units in the country, and it is also the only national-level protection unit in Dandong City. In December 2016, it was selected into the "National Red Tourist Attractions List".
