Fuxian Shihongsi Grottoes

Fuxian Shihongsi Grottoes are also known as Chuanzihe Grottoes. There are 10 caves, 65 niches and 3371 stone statues. Seven of the 10 caves have stone statues. Judging from the inscriptions in the caves, the caves were first excavated during the Daye Period of the Sui Dynasty (605-618), and were carved in the Tang, Song, Jin, Ming and Qing dynasties. Among them, the sixth cave from east to west is the main cave. There is a two-story wooden structure with three bays in front of the door. The cave is large in scale, with many stone carvings and more than 3,000 statues. The statue of the Buddhist altar in the cave is located in the center. There is a Buddha, two Bodhisattva and two disciples. The Buddha and Bodhisattva are sitting in lotus position on the lotus pedestal, and the two disciples are on both sides. There are four large stone pillars surrounding the Buddhist altar, which reach from the top to the ground. There are 1331 large and small statues on the stone pillars, which are exquisitely carved and vivid. There are 1,947 large and small statues on the stone walls in the cave. The top of the cave is carved with geometric patterns, and the carvings have an obvious Tang Dynasty style. There are also many inscriptions from the Jin Dynasty and the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the cave.

Yangjiafengshan Site

The Yangjiafengshan Site is located on the southern slope of Yangjiafengshan on the north side of the Yaomen River Reservoir Dam in Caodian Township, Huanglong County, southeast of Yan'an City. It is surrounded by the Yaomen River in the east, south and west, and is backed by mountains on the north side, with steep terrain. It is a Paleolithic age site. The skull fossil of "Huanglong Man" was unearthed here in 1975. The fossil retains the frontal and parietal bones, has thicker bone walls, a backward tilt of the forehead, and a rounded orbital rim. It is an adult male skull, belonging to the late Homo sapiens, about 30,000 to 50,000 years ago. The original is now in the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Beipo Ruins

Beipo Ruins is located in the west of Beipo Village, Sancha Township, Huanglong County, southeast of Yan'an City. It is a Neolithic Age site, and a large number of pottery fragments can be seen on the surface, including muddy red pottery, sandy red pottery, muddy gray pottery, sandy gray pottery, etc. The main decorative patterns include painted pottery, plain surface, rope pattern, pile pattern and basket pattern. The types of utensils include pointed bottom bottles, basins, bowls, jars, etc. One of the painted pottery pot sherds is made of fine clay red pottery, brick red, black and brown, and the pattern is a deformed fish pattern. The mouth of the bottle with a pointed bottom has a heavy lip and a bell mouth. The cultural connotation of the site ranges from Yangshao Culture to Longshan Culture, and its upper limit is the Yangshao Culture Banpo type.

Zhaiguan Mountain Site

The Zhaiguan Mountain Site is located in Zhaiguan Mountain, Sansanlipu Village, Anding Town, Zichang County, north of Yan'an City, on a secondary gentle slope north of Ma River. The site belongs to the Neolithic Age. On the ground, fragments of hammered stone tools and polished stone sickles can be seen, as well as a large number of colored pottery pieces, sand-filled red pottery, gray pottery, etc. The living area is clearly visible, and there are pottery kiln ruins and cultural layers. The pottery kiln is 3.5 meters high and 2.3 meters in diameter. The fired clay is very hard and there are a large number of pottery pieces in the kiln.
