In 2015, the whole family went to Guangzhou to celebrate the 15th day of the first lunar month and watch Chimelong Circus and Zoo. How to plan your itinerary for one or four days?

The long-awaited trip to Chimelong finally came true. A family of five people spent two days in Chimelong over the weekend. The trip went smoothly and they had a lot of fun. I read some travel notes online before, which were of great help to us on this trip. So now I will also report the entire play process, hoping to be helpful to everyone.

1. Travel preparations

Before traveling, I checked the weather conditions in Guangzhou that day, downloaded the latest offline map package from Baidu Maps on my mobile phone, and booked Chimelong Zoo and Chimelong Zoo on Ctrip 2 days in advance. Tickets for the Grand Circus and Junyue Hotel. The reason why I booked this hotel is that it is relatively close to Chimelong Scenic Area. There is a Chinese Food City nearby, which is convenient for eating, and the reviews from netizens are also good. The initial arrangement of the itinerary is to drive to Guangzhou on Saturday, watch the circus in the evening, visit the zoo on Sunday, and return to Shenzhen in the afternoon.

2. Itinerary

Saturday

9:00-11:30 Drive from Shenzhen to Guangzhou and go straight to the hotel. The instructions for booking the hotel stated that according to international practice, check-in must be after 14:00 on the same day. However, before traveling, I specifically called the hotel front desk and was told that early check-in was possible as long as there were vacancies. We arrived at the hotel at around 11 noon. When we checked in, because my mother didn't bring her ID card, the front desk initially said we couldn't check in. After asking the supervisor for permission, we agreed to check in. So I remind everyone, remember to bring all your documents. In addition, you can pay online when booking a hotel online, but if your itinerary changes and you cannot check in on time, there will be no check-out fee. To be on the safe side, I chose to pay in-store.

11:30-13:00 After putting away our luggage, we eat at Zizhou Restaurant next to the hotel. It tastes good. The average consumption per person is about 80 yuan. I personally feel it is a bit expensive.

13:00-15:30 Return to hotel for lunch break

16:00 Departure for Chimelong Scenic Area. Chimelong Malaysian Theater is right next to the Paradise. Just set the navigation destination to "Chimelong Paradise Parking Lot". I have heard before that the road conditions in Guangzhou are complicated and you will get lost even if you use the navigation system. It turns out that this is really the case. Even Baidu Maps can't find the north. When I turn it on, it prompts "Re-planning the route." This usually means that I have taken the wrong road. After walking only a few kilometers, it took almost an hour to arrive. Parking in the scenic area charges 20 yuan.

16:30-18:00 Get tickets to enter the park and walk around. It is very convenient to collect electronic tickets. Just enter the verification code and the last 4 digits of your mobile phone into the self-service ticket machine. I read the online guide before and knew that the best place to watch the circus is, in addition to the VIP area, the C/D area on the upper floor next to the VIP area. However, now these two areas are classified as first-class ticket areas, and an additional 50 RMB is required. Yuan per person, VIP area is charged an additional 200 yuan per person. In order to have a good seat, all four of us adults bought first-class tickets. Children who don’t occupy seats don’t need to buy first-class tickets. They only need to buy tickets. I would like to remind everyone here that there are no tickets for seniors or children for the circus. Regardless of age, you must purchase the full ticket. The VIP area and the first-class ticket area have matching seats, but when buying tickets, seats are randomly selected by computer, and seats cannot be selected on the spot like in a movie theater. In addition to the VIP area, first-class seating area, and a Chimelong Hotel resident area (in area D near the pool), you can sit anywhere in other areas. The show didn't start until 19:30. We went into the theater around 18:00 to watch it, and the good seats were basically full. If you don’t buy VIP tickets and first-class tickets, try to choose area C/D. The middle area directly behind the VIP is also good. I checked on the spot and found that the first row in the central area is less than 2 meters away from the last row of VIPs.

18:00-19:00 Eating at the Circus Star Restaurant next to the Malaysian Theater costs about NT$60 per person.

19:30-21:00 Watch the circus. As netizens said, it’s super beautiful and highly recommended. A netizen said before that his 3-year-old child kept making noises when watching the circus and wanted to go back. My daughter is less than two years old. At first, I was really worried that she would cry. Unexpectedly, the little kid kept watching very seriously and even Applaud with us from time to time!

Sunday:

Get up at 7:30. After washing up, we went to the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel to eat the free buffet. It tasted good and the food variety was quite rich.

Depart from the hotel at 8:30, find a supermarket nearby and buy 3 bottles of 1L mineral water, then go straight to the zoo, arriving at the north gate of the zoo around 9:40. There are two checkpoints to enter the park. The first checkpoint requires luggage inspection to prevent tourists from bringing food into the park. Passengers without luggage can take the express lane on the far left. The second level is the ticket gate. Remember to take a photo of the four theater performance schedules with your phone at the entrance.

After renting a trolley at the ticket gate, go straight to the right and take the small train to the tourist area, which takes about 40 minutes. Of course, you can also drive into the park by yourself, but you need to buy an additional ticket, which seems to be more than 200 per car.

The first attraction after entering the park is Baihu Mountain. The White Tiger Diving will be performed every half o'clock and the hour. We heard applause and cheers inside before we entered. When we went in, we took a look at the performance. It's over, and I only saw a few white tigers swimming in the water, which was a pity.

We basically arrange the route based on the performance time of each theater. The originally planned route was 11:00 Huaguoshan Theater - 12:00 Hippopotamus Theater - 13:30 Elephant Theater - 16:30 White Tiger Theater. However, it was already past 11 o'clock after taking the train, so we had to go first Go to the Hippo Theater and watch the Journey to the West Theater at 14:30. Personally, I feel that the performances at Hippopotamus Theater are very average, so you don’t have to watch them.

After watching the meal, we ate at the Panda Restaurant. It tasted good and the per capita consumption was about 60 yuan. Then we happened to catch the Elephant Theater at 13:30. Maybe because it was close to the restaurant, the Elephant Theater was very crowded. It was already full when we entered, and we could only sit on the steps everywhere. Because it was noon, it was super hot inside the theater, but the performance was wonderful and worth seeing!

It was already past two o'clock after watching the elephant show, so we hurried to the Journey to the West Theater and finally arrived 10 minutes early. There were still very few spectators. We chose an area with fans to sit down. It was much cooler at the Elephant Theater just now. The monkey show is also very exciting and worth watching. It was already past three o'clock after watching the show. Considering that we have to go to work tomorrow, we decided to abandon the 16:30 White Tiger Theater performance and set off back to Shenzhen early.

There was a bit of traffic jam on Panyu Avenue on the return trip, but overall it was relatively smooth. We arrived home safely at around six o'clock, and the two-day and one-night trip was successfully concluded.

3. Precautions

1. When going out, remember to bring everyone’s ID documents.

2. There is no discount for children's or senior citizens' tickets at the Circus. Even infants under 1 year old need to purchase full tickets. VIP tickets and first-class tickets for the Grand Circus can only be purchased at the on-site box office. Just show your ticket when entering the Malaysian Theater Theatre, not your first-class ticket. There are iron railings around the VIP area, first-class seat area, and the hotel area. The entrance is guarded by staff, and you can only enter with a ticket.

3. Chimelong Scenic Area does not allow you to bring food into the park, but you can bring water. You must bring more water when you go in summer. If you buy it inside, it will cost 8 yuan/bottle. If you have a child who wants to prepare milk powder, be sure to fill the thermos cup with enough boiling water. At first we thought there would be hot water supply in the scenic area, but who knew there was none, not even the circus star restaurant in the Malaysian Theater. Fortunately we were well prepared, otherwise we would have been in trouble.

4. There is a trolley rental shop next to the zoo ticket gate. The price is 30 yuan a day and the deposit is 300 yuan. Because the zoo is very large, if you have children who do not bring your own stroller, you must rent one, which will make it much easier for adults. We brought a lot of mineral water with us and hung it all on the trolley, which saved a lot of effort. We entered at the north gate, and the trolleys can be returned at both the south gate and the north gate.

5. Chimelong Zoo has two entrances, the north gate and the south gate. The north gate is the main entrance. The entire park is divided into two parts, the bus tour area and the walking tour area. There are free entrances in the bus tour area. The whole journey by small train takes about 40 minutes. If you drive into the park by yourself, you need to buy an additional ticket, which costs more than 200 yuan per car. The entrance to the self-driving area and the entrance to the tourist area are both at the north gate. There are four performance theaters in the pedestrian tour area, and the performance times are basically at noon and afternoon, so it is best to use the morning time to go to the bus tour area to take a small train or self-driving tour, and then go to the pedestrian tour area, so that in the afternoon Plenty of time to see the show.
