The opening ceremony will be held in Hezuo City, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture from July 30th to August 60th, and the closing ceremony will be held in Dunhuang City from August 30th to September 5th. In more than a month's time, more than 30 sub-events with outstanding themes, distinctive features and colorful events will be held in Gansu 14 cities and states.

During the opening and closing ceremonies, there will be 23 major activities in six categories: theory, exhibition, performance, tourism, trade and innovation. Theory will gather wisdom and knowledge, exhibitions will highlight beauty, performances will gather fine literature, touring exhibitions will show the charm of Silk Road, trade will focus on pragmatic cooperation, and innovation will stimulate industrial vitality.

The whole activity planning embodies the following characteristics:

This year, the 4th Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo and the 9th Dunhuang Tour Silk Road International Tourism Festival will be jointly held. It is scheduled to open in Hezuo City, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province on July 30th, and the closing ceremony will be held in Dunhuang from August 3rd to September 5th. The theme of this year's "One Meeting and One Festival" is: "Cultural tourism promotes Silk Road, and beauty overcomes poverty". Around this theme, Gansu Province will organize 23 main activities in 6 categories (during the opening ceremony 10 and during the closing ceremony 13).

Among them, the "Theory" will gather wisdom and knowledge and arrange special forums such as "China Culture and Belt and Road Forum" and "American Forum to Overcome Poverty"; The "Exhibition" will highlight beauty and glory, and arrange special exhibitions such as "Going to the World to Find the Reproduction Exhibition of Dunhuang Diaspora Cultural Relics" and "Silk Road Art Exhibition"; The "performance" will collect outstanding literary works, arrange the premiere of the documentary "Dialogue between Mogao Grottoes and Angkor Wat" and special performances such as "Three Districts and Three States" folk songs and dances; "Tour" will show the charm of the Silk Road, arrange 100 travel agencies to visit Tibet and thousands of go on road trip cars to cross the "three districts and three States" and other special activities; "Trade" will focus on pragmatic cooperation and arrange activities such as the Silk Road International Traveler Conference and the Silk Road Tourism Commodities Exhibition; "Creation" will stimulate the industry's kinetic energy and arrange activities such as "Dunhuang International Design Week Award-winning Works Exhibition".
