What nationality are Tuwa people?

Tuwa people are Mongolian.

Tuwa people in China are an ancient people who live by nomadic and hunting. For nearly 4 years, they have settled in Kanas Lake. They are brave and tough, good at riding, skiing, singing and dancing, and now they basically maintain a relatively primitive lifestyle. Log-built wooden houses, scattered villages, small bridges, flowing water, smoke curling, and the fragrance of milk wine. The quaint village scenery is as mysterious as Kanas Lake.

The ancestors of Tuva people migrated from Siberia 5 years ago. They belong to the same ethnic group as Tuva people in Tuva, Russia today. They lived by herding and hunting for generations, lived in deep mountains and forests, and followed the traditional way of life.

With the tourism development of Kanas Lake, a famous scenic spot in the northwest of the village, people began to come into contact with this wine town. The locals called this place Hemu Kanas and called themselves Tuwa people.

Tuwa people's customs

Kanas Tuwa people's houses are all made of logs, with a square bottom and a spire top, and they are still in yurts when they are nomadic. Hunting for a living, good at archery, horseback riding and skiing, hardworking and simple, brave and tough.

The house is made by crossing logs to shoot falcons, and putting a layer of bryophyte between two logs, and the logs are pressed against each other and piled up. Because the bryophyte is sandwiched between the two logs, it can play a role in sealing the gaps of the logs, keeping warm and preventing wind.

Kanas Tuwa people have their own unique living habits and languages. Tuwa language belongs to Turkic family of Altai language family and is similar to Kazakh language, so everyone in Kanas Tuwa can speak Kazakh language. Tuwa schools basically popularize Mongolian.
