Gas prices rose before the holiday and it cost 4 yuan more to fill a tank. Is the reason for the increase related to the May Day holiday?

On May Day this year, I took half a day off, and the remaining four days were taken from the weekend. What influence does it have to increase the country's oil prices?

Moreover, after all, there is a five-day holiday on May Day, which is a good time to promote tourism consumption. As long as you think correctly, you should reduce oil prices rather than increase them. Only price reductions are likely to make more people travel by car. Price increases are not always good news.

Furthermore, a tank of gas has increased by 4 yuan, and a liter of gas has increased by 8 cents. This amount of money is not enough to pay for a trip to the gas station.

In fact, the rise in oil prices is related to our country’s refined oil price adjustment mechanism.

According to the current refined oil price adjustment mechanism, every 10 working days, the National Development and Reform Commission determines the increase or decrease based on the price trend of international crude oil in the previous cycle, combined with domestic refined oil production and transportation costs.

10 working days, plus two weekends, if there are no special holidays, that is, the price will be adjusted once every 14 days. If the international oil price is higher than 130 US dollars per barrel, or lower than 30 US dollars per barrel, it will be the extreme value of price adjustment, and no further adjustments will be made. And if the change in international oil prices is small, and after calculation, the change in domestic refined oil prices is less than 5 cents, then there will be no price adjustment in the current price adjustment cycle.

There was no price adjustment in the last price adjustment cycle. 14 days later, it happened to be April 30, the day before Labor Day, and that was it.

In total, since the beginning of 2021, the retail price of domestic gasoline and diesel has gone through 8 price adjustments, with six rising, one falling and one unchanged. The total has increased by more than 7 cents compared with the end of last year. In other words, the price of international crude oil is also on an upward trend compared with the end of last year.

This is of course related to the recovery of the world economy.

With the continuous vaccination of the new crown vaccine, the epidemic situation in various countries has been alleviated (except for a few countries), and various countries have gradually resumed production and life. The demand for crude oil has also increased, and the price has naturally increased.

So, this increase in gasoline and diesel prices has nothing to do with May Day, it just happens to happen on this day.
