World War II Memorial City

Taierzhuang Ancient City is the first World War II memorial city in China and the first cross-strait exchange base in China. After the reconstruction, Taierzhuang Ancient City and Warsaw became the only two cities in the world that were rebuilt as world cultural heritage because of the artillery damage in World War II.

The Battle of Taierzhuang, which took place in late March of 1938, was the first great victory in China's frontal battlefield against Japan, so Taierzhuang was praised by the world as "the unyielding land of the Chinese nation".

As early as 1992, the Taierzhuang District Government allocated 30 million yuan to build the War Memorial Hall in half a year. 1996, the memorial hall was designated by six ministries as one of the national 100 demonstration bases for patriotism education. In 2007, the memorial hall was incorporated into the patriotic education base managed by the central government.
