Where is No. 8 Bridge Creative Park (No. 8 Bridge)?

No. 8 Bridge Creative Park (No. 8 Bridge) is a national AAA tourist attraction.

No. 8 Bridge is located at Nos. 8-10 Jianguo Middle Road, covering an area of ??more than 7,000 square meters and a total construction area of ??12,000 square meters. This used to be an old factory building in the old French Concession. After liberation, it became the location of the "Shanghai Automobile Brake Company" affiliated to SAIC. After entering the new century, due to the reorganization of the original enterprise, these seven old factories were left behind.

In the second half of 2003, with the support of the Municipal Economic Commission and the Luwan District People’s Government, Shanghai Huaqing Investment Co., Ltd., Hong Kong Fashion Life Planning Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Industrial Tourism Development Co., Ltd.* **Together, we implemented the development, reconstruction, investment promotion and management of the old factory building of "Shanghai Automobile Brake Company". It took one year to transform the old factory building with unique historical heritage and cultural connotation into one that attracts creative talents, inspires creative inspiration and gathers A new carrier for creative industries. At present, Bridge No. 8 has nearly a hundred well-known design companies and famous brands at home and abroad settled there, becoming a platform for top brand display and information release, and a bridge for economic and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. Industrial creativity and creative industrialization not only protect old industrial buildings and retain the historical style of urban development, but also create huge social and economic benefits. Now Bridge No. 8 has become a new landmark of Shanghai's creative industry cluster, one of the seven "National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Sites" in Shanghai, and one of the three information demonstration parks in Shanghai.

In order to build Bridge No. 8 into a platform for exchange, promotion and dissemination of domestic and foreign creative industries and a multi-functional fashion creation center, the reconstruction project has made great adjustments to the functions of the original building. A large amount of public space has been reserved and rental customers have been strictly screened, making the architectural style here consistent both internally and externally but with unique characteristics. While striving to create an artistic space, it also ensures practicality. During the renovation, the original thick brick walls, rows of pipes, and mottled floors were retained, making the entire space full of the vicissitudes of the industrial civilization era. In the design, we did not blindly pursue the building area, but set up a large number of indoor, semi-indoor and external public spaces.

The reason why Bridge No. 8 is called "Bridge No. 8" is because it is located at No. 8 Jianguo Middle Road, and "8" and "Fa" in Cantonese are homophonic, meaning auspicious; at the same time, No. 8 The floors of each building in the bridge building complex are connected by sky bridges to facilitate mutual exchanges and movement among the settled enterprises; more importantly, the No. 8 Bridge Creative Industry Park itself is a bridge of friendship, connecting, transmitting and communicating. Cultures of different backgrounds and styles at home and abroad.

Building 1 is the core venue of Bridge No. 8. It turned out that this was a heat treatment workshop. The designers made full use of the height of the original factory building and converted it into a three-story building. The first floor is a multi-functional hall. There are several touch-screen computers at the information desk at the entrance, allowing visitors to self-check information about residents in the park. The second floor is the auditorium; the third floor is the VIP semi-open box, giving guests the ultimate enjoyment, while the opposite side can be used as a lecture platform or performance stage as needed.

The first floor of Building 2 was originally the warehouse of the brake company, and the second floor was a bicycle parking garage. The original iron escalator is still retained on the outer stairs. The structure of Building 2 remains largely unchanged. The floor slabs on the second floor are still the same and the walls have been redone. On the surface, the roof appears to be the same, but it has actually been renovated, insulated and waterproofed, and the old tiles were put back on. The area covered here is the same as before, except that some public space has been added in some places. The ceiling of the corridor in Building 2 is very user-friendly, with glass as a skylight. Although this walkway is very narrow, when the sun shines down from the roof, the entire park is warm and cozy.

Building 3 was originally the location of the sheet metal workshop and bathroom. The infrastructure was not good, so it was basically rebuilt on the same site. The interior walls of the office here are all made of glass, and the customers who settle in are fashion designers and product designers. These clear glass interior walls put some of their products on good display. The small square on the first floor below can be called the back garden of Bridge No. 8. After work, you can enjoy coffee, exchange ideas, find inspiration, and negotiate business in these outdoor teahouses.

Building 5 is basically an advertising, concept, and product design studio. The middle hall is specially used for holding exhibitions, new product launches and other activities. There is a special design here, with a private conference room in the middle that residents can rent by the hour.

Artists in the park will display their works in the back streets. It will also attract art works from all over the world to be exhibited. People can visit and browse these works of art while commuting to and from get off work.

Building 6 is the living area of ??the park. The upper floor is the staff restaurant, and the lower floor is the public parking lot. A new arrival, a half-familiar face, will quickly become a friend here.

The first floor of Building 7 is a French restaurant during the day and a disco after ten o'clock in the evening. Foreigners especially like the atmosphere here. Many foreign stars often come here to dine, so it has become one of the main entertainment, leisure and social places for foreigners in Shanghai. Building 7 houses some of the world's top architectural clubs, such as Canada's large architectural design firm B&H, and American design firm SOM.

The No. 8 Bridge project is not a simple renovation or rental of old houses, but a model of creative development. Compared with the distinct atmosphere of Chinese artists gathering in the Suzhou River Warehouse District, Bridge No. 8 is more international, gathering different artists and designers, and is more like a window to the world. The "bridge" of Bridge No. 8 means providing a rich communication platform for different creative industries. This converted old industrial factory has thus become a bridge, connecting the past and the present, connecting fashion, creativity, culture and design at home and abroad, and connecting people from all over the world.
