Mogao Grottoes, also known as the Thousand Buddha Cave in Dunhuang, are also known as Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang. In recent years, there has been an endless stream of tourists visiting Dunhuang Grottoes. The reception pressure in Mogao Grottoes has increased. With so many tourists visiting, the cultural treasures of the Mogao Grottoes are dying out at an extremely rapid rate due to man-made destruction and sandstorms.

In order to better preserve the Mogao Grottoes, Dunhuang Research Institute made a comprehensive evaluation of the whole tour process, and the adjusted tour mode changed.

First of all, tourists need to make an appointment in advance to visit the Mogao Grottoes, make an appointment to buy tickets through VoIP, and then go to visit.

The scenic spot will adopt a two-way single-cycle tour route to rationally divert tourists. The tourist center arranges tour guides to guide tourists to watch digital movies on the theme of Mogao Grottoes in the tourist service center to learn about relevant historical knowledge. In this way, many tourists no longer visit scenic spots, but learn more about the Mogao Grottoes from a historical perspective.

The tour guide will explain outside the cave first, and then visit the cave, which can reasonably reduce the stay time of tourists in the cave. Guided by the tour guide, the time for tourists to visit the cave is reduced to 75 minutes.

After the adjustment, the time for tourists to visit the Mogao Grottoes increased from two hours to three hours. Except for watching movies in the visitor center, the time spent in the cave will be reduced to less than half.

It is believed that the adjusted peak-shifting tour will play a positive role in the protection of Mogao Grottoes.
