Xinfeng culture is a fusion version of Chaoshan culture and Hakka culture, which is very unique. Most people in Xinfeng speak two dialects, Chaoshan and Hakka. Throughout Raoping County, there are 655 Hakka earth buildings of various forms, basically all built from the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty to the Qianjia period of the Qing Dynasty. The more famous Hakka earth buildings in Xinfeng Town include the Red Building, Runfeng Building, Wuquan Building, Qingfeng Building, etc.
Among them, Runfeng Building was built during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. It is one of the larger and more distinctive Raoping Hakka earth buildings. In July 2002, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province. The building is small and exquisite, with a compact structure. Although it has gone through many vicissitudes of life, it is now relatively well protected and has high historical, artistic and scientific research value. As a typical Hakka folk building, Runfeng Building witnesses the hard struggle history of the Hakka people in Raobei.
