Pingyao Ancient City Travel Guide One-day Tour

The ancient city of Pingyao is an ancient cultural city with a history of thousands of years. It has the style of the ancient Jin Dynasty. Many ancient buildings are still perfectly preserved to this day. Various delicacies are waiting for you to taste. Let’s share with you the ancient city of Pingyao. One-day travel guide.

The previous article introduced the journey to Hengshan in Datong. We also have another destination for this trip: Pingyao Ancient City 1. Accommodation Guide

We took the train directly from Datong to Pingyao in the afternoon. , before arriving at Pingyao Station, we specifically searched for a nearby hotel with a Tukang on the Internet.

The name is Guangxianyuan. Since it was already early in the morning when we arrived, the store owner went to bed a step ahead of us. But as soon as we dialed his number, he immediately came out and took us in. The boss was very nice and polite. He saw that we were too late and did not check in, so he let us stay directly.

The accommodation is well-equipped with facilities. Except for the bed, which is based on Shanxi's local Tu Kang model, the rest of the toilets and toiletries are based on the style of an express hotel. As a southerner, it feels very meaningful to stay here for one night on New Year's Eve. Hahaha

Even if you look at the Tukang, it doesn’t look any different. In their house, it is simply covered with a thin layer, and it doesn’t feel cold, it is very warm. Because I was so tired from hiking and traveling that day, I fell asleep soon.

I woke up early the next morning, finished washing and tidying up, and went to the yard to take a look. Wow, the strong northern atmosphere came to my face. It's very cold, but I can't help it. Now that I'm here, I still want to continue visiting the ancient city. Because the yard is really unique, there are lanterns, ancient trees, and many collections of ironware.

Sitting on that old stool and saying a few ancient proverbs or poems, I felt like I had traveled back in time. 2. Food experience

What Shanxi is most famous for is, of course, its shaved noodles. But since we were in Datong on the first day, we had already tasted the local noodles. For breakfast, we chose to eat a bowl of tofu pudding and fried dough sticks nearby. The tofu pudding is very salty and the fried dough sticks are too oily. They are not as delicious as those fried by us southerners, eh

But for lunch we had a roasted lao lao which was good, their local specialty. My friend ordered something called Qianqian, which was okay, pretty good.

While shopping, we also ate here and there, but to be honest, the taste was just average. Not enough to recommend. 3. Shopping guide

Pingyao is an ancient city with a history of 2,700 years. Inside, there are walls made of blue bricks, and under your feet are stone roads that can penetrate for thousands of years. You will feel inexplicably proud. feel. This sense of pride comes from the fact that you are a Chinese. Behind this country lies a heavy history, which is remembered by our cities, large or small.

When we rushed there the night before, we saw a huge banner saying "Warm congratulations on the 20th anniversary of Pingyao Ancient City's inscription as a World Heritage Site." Yes, this city has indeed brought us the famous Chinese people Too much glory.

Before the last century, Shanxi was once the richest province in China. At that time, Beijing and Shanghai were completely incomparable.

But it has only been more than 100 years ago, and it is no longer as glorious as before. I can’t help but sigh: things are different and people are different!!

The ancient city is not big, and my friend and I are not very big. People walked around from east to west and from south to north. It took about four or five hours, from 9 a.m. to around 3 p.m. I also had a meal during this period.

Since we didn’t buy tickets for the attractions, we just walked around the ancient city and felt that it was quite good and quite tiring. Some attractions, such as the "First Escort Agency in East China", "Confucian Temple", and the upper part of the ancient city wall, have to pay 130 tickets, in the off-season. The price is 150 in peak season. 4. Shopping Guide

If you want my advice, just buy some Fenjiu and go home.

Anyway, Fenjiu is relatively famous in the ancient city. There are golden statues of "shepherd boy pointing at Xinghua Village" everywhere. Haha, very cute.

I bought some Fenjiu and balsamic vinegar before I went back. (Shanxi’s wine and vinegar are quite famous and worth recommending. I tried their wine in a Pingyao specialty store and it was very delicious. I bought some and drank it with my family when I went home for the Chinese New Year.)

It’s been snowing heavily in Shanxi these days, and my wine is still on the way, haha, but I’m not in a hurry.

Pingyao Ancient City is indeed worthy of being one of the four ancient cities in my country. Its history of more than 2,700 years is still so intact that it is worth remembering.

It is still a living city, and stories of joy or sorrow like those of us outside the city will also happen in this ancient city. But no matter what, history is history after all, and all we can do is live each moment well.

The present will also become the history of the future. What is there to sigh about? Just stride forward!

Let’s run towards a better tomorrow, let’s work hard together!
